Pitiful, just pitiful.

The truth is that the prosecution is more to blame for the delays than anyone. First, they delay getting Timmy into the court by not properly obtaining his custody for nearly two years. Then they fought the change of venue. If their case was solid, it would not matter if the trial was held in a neighboring county.

You want to get this show on the road? Simply agree to move the trial from the tainted Utah County? Or perhaps the prosecution is banking on a bias jury. Don't forget, this same prosecution wouldn't save time and money by allowing Jeppson a bench trial.

The costs and delays in this case are more reasonably the fault of the prosecution.

My heart goes out to this family, it is really too bad someone wont just come forward and admit guilt and let this family have some closure, no case should go on for 14 years.

Chili Dog,
Sound like you are in the Olsen Camp. If he and his co-conspirators had been forthright in the beginning the Davis family and Olsen families would not be going through this little corner of hell. Have you thought of that?
Hey Chili Dog | 8:07 a.m. Aug. 12, 2009
Get back to work on prepping your defense of "Timmy" You are obviously his lawyer.

How one can secretly live with the knowledge of a murder is beyond my understanding. I have great empathy for the Davis family. I hope that some day there will be answers to their many questions. They need one of the cold-blooded cowards to finally step up and tell the truth.
I had the same Judge... | 8:13 a.m. Aug. 12, 2009
I had the same judge in a clear case custody battle. It was a clear abuse case against her and was supported by four Phd prfessioinals yet he still leaned in her favor. He fell asleep several times during the trial. I ended up with the kids but he was in no hurry, despite the advices of the Phd's, to protect the kids. Later, because of his typo's, I was ordered to pay her thousands in child support. It was later cleared up but not until I was devastated because of his flippant disregard for the victim. I was never given my money back. He needs to be voted out.
Chili Dog | 8:24 a.m. Aug. 12, 2009
I am the just trying to show the REAL reason for the delays. The judge isn't even the reason for the delay. He has ruled AGAINST the defendant in this case. The case is being held up in the appeals court.

I am not in defense of Timmy at all. I am Chris' wife - you know the one they wrongly charged with murder only to drop the charges over a year later!

And I will tell you this, it isn't the "lies" of the defendants that has caused this trouble; it is the lies of the witnesses and the authorities that has caused this false hope of finding answers with these men. I suppose it is also the fault of the the police who were slow to respond in a manner that would've brought answers years ago.

Maybe, just maybe, they have the wrong theroy. With no proof, I still can't see why everyone has jumped on their bandwagon. However, it is clear why this trial should not be held in Utah County.
Yup | 8:57 a.m. Aug. 12, 2009
The real blame lies with the FORMER County Attorney who filed the murder charge prematurely without getting his ducks in a row. He did it as a campaign stunt.
Chili Dog | 9:23 a.m. Aug. 12, 2009
Sure with the former, but also with the current.

Why not drop the charges until your ducks are ina row? I mean, if Timmy is found not guilty, they can never file charges again - even if he takes them right to the body. If they drop the charges now, they could always re-charge him if some evidence is found.
Ok fine. | 10:47 a.m. Aug. 12, 2009
Since a murder case against these two clowns will most likely never fly, just waterboard them and find out where she is buried. That's bascially what Mr. Davis wants.
A murderer out there | 11:17 a.m. Aug. 12, 2009
Someone did it. If not these guys, then someone else is scotfree living with a terrible secret. To whomever did this, the day of reckoning is inevitable and punishment in the next life, I believe, will be 100fold. Take your lumps now, it will be 100 fold easier to bear.
UM | 11:20 a.m. Aug. 12, 2009
Tune in more frequently, or read the entire article. They already dropped the murder charge against one of them (Chris) and in fact had him sign a statement asserting he KNOWS nothing about her disappearance.

Waterboarding will not work if you don't know anything.
Retired Judge | 12:58 p.m. Aug. 12, 2009
I want to correct a common misconception. I don't know if anyone in Utah ever has, but there have been many people convicted of killing people without bodies. The law allows people to be convicted in such cases because it's recognized that you don't get rewarded for your crime just because you're clever enough to dispose of the body.

It becomes more difficult to prove but it has been done. Google Robert Bierenbaum, Bruce Koklich, and Thomas Capano.

Secondly, I am ashamed of the people of Republican Utah. Utah is a Republican state and as such I always believed the people of Utah, the death penalty capitol of the US had more wisdom than other states. Utah has executed more people than any other state. It saddens me to see Republican Utahn's coming to the defense of Timmy Olsen, an obviously guilty killer. I would expect such sentiments from San Francisco, but for Utahns to say that Olsen might be innocent in the face of such damning evidence is dissapointing.
What are we waiting for? | 1:36 p.m. Aug. 12, 2009
These guys admitted to others that they did it. Lets got on with justice.

Put them away, they made a girl disapear, and then they bragged about it.
Obviously Guilty? | 1:36 p.m. Aug. 12, 2009
First, where is this damning evidence you speak of.

Sure a no-body case has been won before, but those cases involve evidence such as blood, weapons, motive, and such.

The truth is that this case hasn't even met the standard of Corpus Delicti yet, but the judge is waiting for the prosecution to present its entire case before dismissing the charges.

I am ashamed of people like yourself who actually determine one's guilt before the entire case has been presented in court and not just throught he media.
Here is a solution | 2:30 p.m. Aug. 12, 2009
The bragged about killing her,

Has anyone asked them to go take a lie detector?

I've heard there are new ones out that detect brain waves and can't be beat.

If these guys are realy innocent, they would be fools not to volunteer for such a test and the govenor would be remis not to pardon them if they pass it.

Otherwise, they deserve the death penalty.

Honestly I don't know to much about this case, just what I read, but it would be kinda hard to prosecute someone for murder without a body right? What I mean is, that guy looks totally creepy, my money is on the fact that he did it, but before I could send him to the gas chambers I would have to have solid evidence against him. Does anyone know anything more about this story?
Sad | 3:04 p.m. Aug. 12, 2009
Some one out there knows where she is. Someone out there knows what happened. That someone should open up and tell the story. How you can live with yourself is beyond any kind of understanding. Just tell the story and let these people move forward. Its there.. share.
Richard | 3:12 p.m. Aug. 12, 2009
FOR MORE INFORMATION - I have transcripts and court document on my blog. I am Chris' wife and you can find me by searching Treading Water.

You are welcome to browse, however, I have my bias (of course), so you may want to stick with the court documents I have listed.
Solution | 3:14 p.m. Aug. 12, 2009
Chris took a lie detector test and in fact was fighting to get it admitted into evidence when we took the plea deal.

He offered to take another, but they refused to give him one and pressed charges.
LOL @ Retired Judge | 3:59 p.m. Aug. 12, 2009
A title doesn't authenticate or substantiate facts that are erroneous. "Utah has executed more people than any other state". That statement alone tells me you have no connection whatsoever to the legal community in the state of Utah or anywhere else for that matter. Since the re-establishment of the death penalty Texas leads the nation in executions by a substantial margin. Over half of their total of 755 executions have occurred since 1976.

If you are trying to be funny, sarcastic, or flippant please comment on the comics section of the paper rather than the news section....
Anonymous | 5:07 p.m. Aug. 12, 2009
let Dick Chaney and friends come and get it out of them with water boarding much better than a lie detector. Wouldn't want another Ruici person going to Jail for something he didn't do.
Disgusted | 3:24 p.m. Aug. 18, 2009
It's truly sad that any case, especially one like this has taken 14 years. Our justice system is slow and bloated, which isn't helped by the lack of physical evidence. I truly feel for both sides of this one; as dragging it on for so long is doing more harm than good. Whatever happened to right to a speedy trial?
