Are you sure the poll didn't ask "are you glad he got the ambassador job"?
Because he's not an ideologue right-wing wacko like too many of the conservatives in this state are. He looks at each issue on it's own merits rather than following the ultra-rigid party line. I hope the new gov takes a hint and realizes that that's what this state needs -- someone who thinks things through rather than obeying the hate radio neocons.
I'm glad he's out. He's not a conservative. Too much like McCain and Schwartzenager for my tastes. I'll bet he voted for BO. China is a good place for him.
Great Guv--will miss him! Hopefully we'll get another like him after this Herbert silliness. Too bad 'conservatism' means crazy these days...
Let me get this straight.
Huntsman is a political appointee to serve as the ambassador to China by the President of the United States and you say that he is completely "out of politics?"
Are you serious? There are few positions as political as being an ambassador.
Come on. At least think about what you're writing.
There will be comments here from the far right criticizing Huntsman for being moderate. But this poll reflects the reality that the vast majority of this state (and this country) want and respect thoughtful, reasonable men and women as leaders. The extremes of both parties may yell the loudest and blog the most but they are thankfully a minority that is shrinking by the day!!
To "Not Me" and "geedub" please be patient with those of us who were not born with all the answers and who are constantly on the search for a better, more effective answers to life's challenges.
A poll that touches on any political matter is extremely suspect when Dan Jones is involved - the questions asked always have a flair for the Democratic roots where he and his wife come from. Huntsman is popular, but I would probably shave at least 20 points off the poll results.
I will miss him.
I don't understand why he was popular, I don't feel he left a good impression on me, in the time he was the governor, I don't see his trademark like his predeccesors left in this state, they were much better. I agree with other comments may be he will be better as an ambassador to China.
I'll miss him. Some of us yearn for the days when Utah conservative meant a person who was conservative in nature but still mainstream. Today we have extremist who ridicule anyone who doesn't agree with them. They seem to march to the Iimbaugh, Hannity and Glen Beck hate-rants. Where are the thoughtful citizens I remember just a few years ago. Jon Huntsman served us well with respect - wish more folks appreciated him.
Glad he is gone.
Glad to see the 8% consoling one another on the D-News chatboard. 96% approval from the opposing party and 88% from his own party - has that ever been accomplished on any state or federal level in US history?
NeoCon - proof there is just no pleasing some people.
