May God grant you peace, both of you. I commute 90 miles one way to work every day through Sardine Canyon and know the dangers of drowsy driving. I also know from experience the day after Christmas of closing my eyes "just for a second" and finding myself and little truck buried in a 3 foot deep snowbank. It truly takes only seoonds for a life to change.

When a child dies it is one of the worst tragidies. This women made a mistake but i agree with the ruling, nothing the court can do or say to make it better or worse. She will live with this the rest of her life but the child is in a better place. Children are perfect and sinless, and have a special place reserved for them if the should leave this world early. Nothing can take away the pain for her loss, and all we can do is have her in our prayers. It happens, thats all we can say.

This sounds like an appropriate and fair sentence under the circumstances - I just hope that the community service involves speaking to parent groups about not driving when tired and the importance of consistent carseat use.

It is nice to see the system be reasonable and compassionate. Hopefully their family can move on with life in the years to come, this is a tragedy they will never forget.
