One has to wonder at the motivation for Jay's fixation on the soccer stadium. Where are his rants against the Film Commission? They spend millions each year to lure film makers to Utah for the occasional shoot, some with heavy subsidies. Where are his doubter stories about the Salt Palace, that black hole of a county money pit, or on Southtowne Expo? Why no stories about the lack of development around the baseball complex? Mr. Evensen is disingenuous in his positions, singling out Rio Tinto for criticism, the reasons for which are his own sour grapes at its success.

I think the success of the stadium has yet to be determined. It's probably a little early for GW Bush to land on an aircraft carrier with the "Mission Accomplished" banner out. Has anyone looked yet at how Rio Tinto Stadium is doing on attendance versus projections? How about the number of concerts at near capacity they have booked? I remember thinking there was absolutely zero chance of that projection working year after year for 20 years while they pay off those bonds.

I am still just a little upset this was crammed down by our throats by Sandy and the power brokers in the legislature (Curtis et al) who went around the County to do what the County thought made no financial sense. Can't Jay have those same feelings? Trust me, he's not alone.
