Get rid of him! | 5:11 p.m. July 30, 2009
He thrives on lies and half truths. I say get rid of him! He is one of the main reasons I no longer watch CNN
Author | 5:15 p.m. July 30, 2009
Probably won't be hearing from the author of this story any time soon.

Did he just take a legitimate, well thought out, and factually based shot at a Republican news anchor?

That can't be good for your career, at least not in Utah.
Well? | 5:19 p.m. July 30, 2009
Why doesn't Obama provide a copy of his orignal long form birth certificate? It will prove once and for all the time, date, location and attending physican.

Dobbs is so crazy, why not prove him wrong and produce the certificate.

Keep up the good work Dobbs.

If one is searching for straight reporting of the news, cable news isn't the place to find it. PBS does an excellent job, however. If one wants to see what is going on in Congress, CSPAN 1 and 2 are good sources. Cable "news" has warped the news industry.
What is most disturbing is that we have a majority of Republican leaders who are so beholden to the fringe in their party they won't denounce the ridiculous "birther's" assertions.

Prime example of why, after 32 years of being a registered Independent, I became a Democrat. The Republican Party I once knew is no more.
Saving Grace | 5:39 p.m. July 30, 2009
The one saving grace for CNN. Someone that actually looks for proof. There is no proof of his certificate. I am so tired of hearing about proof when the document they talk about has no proof. I could go to Hawaii and get a certificate just like it. Obama is a fraud. Needs to be outed.
Anonymous | 5:44 p.m. July 30, 2009
Well, look on the Net. Copies of Obama's certificate have been show on the news. This birther movement shows rational America how extreme conservative have gotten in there racist hatred. This extremism as effected how normal people view conservatism. Why would Obama give the sweat off his armpit to a group proven he will never satisfy?

Being a Left Coast liberal lets not censor Dobbs. You will create a hero for they lunatic right. I don't want to see Dobbs single dout like the right targeted Rather. We need to be better than the right and not wallow in their sewer.
Sid | 5:50 p.m. July 30, 2009
As a citizen, I am pretty much required to have my birth certificate "within reach". Without it I can't obtain many things. In order to get a passport a couple years ago, I had to obtain a certified copy to submit,(the hospital one wasn't good enough) which is still in my possession. Does Obama have a passport? Bet he does, that means he is most likely in possession of a certified birth certificate. Why won't he show it instead of getting the State of Hawaii to excuse him? If someone needed to see my birth certificate, I would just go get it and show them, no problem. Why won't Obama? As far as I'm concerned, there's STILL "something rotten in Denmark".
Cats | 5:51 p.m. July 30, 2009
TO Author: Dobbs is NOT a Republican. He makes a real cause out of being an INDEPENDENT and trying to recruit viewers to the Independent movement.

I agree that Dobbs can be a loose cannon at times. But, I don't think he should be cut. It just needs to be understood that these are his opinions and not necessarily those of CNN. If you're going to cut Dobbs for expressing opinions you are going to have to cut everyone in maintstream media. They express biased opinions and represent it as news.

CNN is going down. Not because of Dobbs but because audiences are leaving in droves and going to FOX. People are tired of the liberal bias that prevails all across most of the media.
Saving Grace? | 5:54 p.m. July 30, 2009
Deseret News, PLEASE don't allow any more comments on your articles. The last thing we need is another forum for idiots like "Saving Grace."

Please? For the sake of everyone?
Mary Jane | 5:54 p.m. July 30, 2009
Lou Dobbs is the saving grace in television news media. I don't agree all the time with all his opinions but he is about the last one left in any broadcast media that really thinks about the issues of the day and does not parrot one party line or the other. Thank God for independent thinking.
honeyducote | 5:56 p.m. July 30, 2009
Lou Dobbs is the only reason I even watch CNN.
I'm wondering why you don't ask these same questions.
Anonymous | 6:00 p.m. July 30, 2009
Dobbs and other conservatives on TV are a reminder of now nutty conservatives are. Saving Grave the state of Hawaii came out saying the birth certificate in accurate. John McCain's legal team looking into it.

These people have the nerve to use the analogy of the sky is falling in the climate change debate. Conservative spend most their days believing the sky is falling.

Crave wasn't that amazing how Obama's birth announcement was put in the newspaper 47 years ago. :-) That's a real conspiracy.

nT | 6:06 p.m. July 30, 2009
Do not try to hurt a honest man who dares confront the truth. Lou Dobbs is the only one I trust on CNN.
OldGaDawg | 6:10 p.m. July 30, 2009
What Is Everybody AFRAID of?????

Why doesn't Mr. Obama just open up and release ALL FORMS / DOCUMENTS that other Presidents have and lets MOVE ON WITH OTHER PRESSING ISSUES?

I personally don't believe he has a "birth certificate" that will show that he is qualified to hold the seat of President. I further think that if this issue and other documents that he "Mr. Obama" has secretly hid from the public - which he has also spent TAX PAYERS MONIES" for legal counsel "lawyers" to further keep this issue afloat he will cause this country an unnecessary problem(s) that could erupt into a civil unrest or worse.

Only Mr. Obama knows and has the power to come forward with the documents to put all this to and end.

Mr. Obama "Where's The Birth Certificate"?

"CNN is going down. Not because of Dobbs but because audiences are leaving in droves and going to FOX. People are tired of the liberal bias that prevails all across most of the media."

TV is dying. This liberal hasn't watched TV in three years. The declining population of people watching TV leave more dinosaurs watching TV. Dinosaurs are just more conservative because conservatives can't adapt o a changing world of media.

Air America proved this. I a liberal. I turned out Air American because of something conservatives lack: values. If, I hate conservative hate radio, why would I like a liberal form of hate radio?

I know you don't get it. Liberals like NPR because, on NPR we can listen to Science Friday or hear great short stories. We can hear about history, geography, physics, art and more. NPR is continuing education for adults.

Liberals are just more intelligent. We value education and liberals believe education extends beyond school.

Liberal like maturity and civility. When, NPR as discussions there is no name calling or mics being cut off. They had a great interview with Barry Goldwater Jr. We miss you, Barry. :-)
Some good things | 6:14 p.m. July 30, 2009
I think Lou Dobbs has some good things to say. I don't agree with all of his comments, and he can make some rash false statements such as the one against the LDS church. But give the guy some credit for leading the charge against illegal immigration. He is one of very few that recognizes the fact that illegals are bankrupting our healthcare system, our nation and California.

"Deseret News, PLEASE don't allow any more comments on your articles. The last thing we need is another forum for idiots like "Saving Grace."

You can't be liberal and favor censorship. Grave, as a Left Coast Liberal and a veteran: I may not agree with what you write, I will defend your right to have your point of view.

I've watched Fox News cut mics. It's both ugly and un-American.
Non-believer | 6:20 p.m. July 30, 2009
I want the college entrance forms. Born here or not, it will show if he is truly a con. He is hiding something by not producing the documents. Anybody calling those questioning him on this issue crazy would be a perfect citizen in the old USSR. Well sorry you "believers" but he works for me and the people of America and they can and should ask ANY question they choose of him. The far left has got so looney it scares me to death. Major control issue problems by most of them and the reaction to people asking a legitamate questions confirms this to be true.
Captain Steve | 6:22 p.m. July 30, 2009
To all the people that say Obama is legitimate, I would like to know if your decision was based on faith or facts? If it’s faith, I’m not persuaded. If it’s based on facts, show them to the world so we can evaluate them for ourselves!

If Obama has a long-form, why doesn’t he show it? If he doesn’t have one, why not? People that hide things, usually have something to hide. He works for us. We have a right to know! We have a right to demand it!!!!!!!!!!!! We need to send a message to Obama and to EVERY OTHER POTENTIAL VIOLATOR OF OUR RULE OF LAW!!!!!!!!!!!

OBAMA, STOP HIDING. SHOW US THE LONG FORM BIRTH CERTIFICATE!!!!
Sandy | 6:26 p.m. July 30, 2009
I turn on CNN when Lou Dobbs comes on and when its over I turn to another channel. Lou Dobbs is the one and only reason I watch CNN.I say leave him alone. Why is it ok for every one else to have free speech but him? He is the only one I trust to be be fair on CNN, the others are so biased its pitaful to watch them, they make me sick.
Michigander | 6:30 p.m. July 30, 2009
New CNN Slogan

Lou Dobbs; CNN's homage to Fox News.
shelly | 7:14 p.m. July 30, 2009
well Lou hopefully you will be the next one to join Fox News. and good luck liberals trying to run the conservatives out of town. it isnt going to happen your president is only going to last 4 yrs.
s vick | 10:50 p.m. July 30, 2009
Lou Dobbs was I mean IS, the most honest newscaster on television. He respectfully gives everyone their opinion in discussions which are informative and stimulating. He's the main reason I watched CNN to get the truth! Please don't stop broadcasting the only truth we see as the public. As for the deal with President Obama if I were President I would be required to present my birth certificate--WHY NOT??? Lou Dobbs is the most refreshing, inquisitive, intelligent reporter on all of the networks. This is how we as the public get the truth! I don't watch FOX many reasons--CNN you're making a big mistake if you let him go to another network--please keep his show--which isn't a SHOW, but a straight-forward newscast with a quality equivilant to Walter Cronkite and Tim Russert! PLEASE. . .
Get It Right | 12:26 a.m. July 31, 2009
To this so called "journalist": Lou Dobbs did not say he is a "birther". Dobb believes BHO is a citizen, but wonders why in the world he doesn't provide the documentation. If you are going to do a hit piece on someone, don't deal in lies and half-truths.

I agree with Dobbs. I don't think it is an unreasonable position to ask the man who holds the most powerful office int the world to give conclusive proof of where he was born. Instead, his minions unleash attacks on those who dare question something that most certainly has not been proven.

It's a simple matter. We should all be Missourians in this. Show us.
Timj | 4:29 a.m. July 31, 2009
Wow. I hope all the posts here are written by just one or two different people, using different names. Otherwise--what a bunch of unfortunate wackos.
If I were president, and had already proved my citizenship, I wouldn't listen to half-baked conspiracy theorists who don't like me anyway--there is no way I would do anything more to appease them. Lou Dobbs is horrible. The things he's said about the church are horrible, the things he's said about Obama are idiotic, and his continuous rants about immigration contribute to this nation's ugly xenophobia. His spews of hatred are unbecoming people who are trying to live good, honest lives.
Anonymous | 6:56 a.m. July 31, 2009
dobbs is a overstuffed windbag.
Barton Fink | 7:35 a.m. July 31, 2009
I love the birthers. Just when Republicans need to pretend that they have an intelligent, reality-based party (after years of Bush and the recent tea-bagging incidents), the birthers assume center stage and shriek their crap. You go, Dobbs. You make small-town Idahoans and cabin-bound nutcases in Montana proud.
Genealogy Guru | 8:43 a.m. July 31, 2009

Lou Dobbs has asked questions about the documentation and sourcing of President Obama's birth and associated original legal record. These are due diligence questions that any good researcher or jury would and should ask about presented legal, genealogical and historical evidence. Legal issues will be dealt with in the courts. The long-form or "certificate of live birth" record is the traditional legal identity standard in the USA since the early 20th Century. The short-form or "certification of live birth" is an abstract that has become more popular (and legal) with a paperless society. It results in a great loss of information about a live birth as was found on the original-long form record, or is now collected and digitized at the time of birth. Less is not better for accurate and adequate identification of individuals. For genealogists, professional and amateur alike, as well as juries, journalists, historical, political, social, private and public researchers, all need access to original verifiable records, not merely abstracts or transcriptions.
More Utah Idiots | 9:14 a.m. July 31, 2009
I can't believe in happy valley mentality here in this state. Do you people here really think you count on anything nationally? Any state that would be the biggest one party favoring state in history through all we have gone through these past 30 years has got to be wacko! Where were all of you born, under rocks? What a bunch of sheep. Go ahead and spill your venom and ridiculous comments because it goes nowhere other than Utah.
gladys Sawyer | 10:16 a.m. July 31, 2009
Dobbs blongs on Fox with the other right wing crazies.
nonya | 10:21 a.m. July 31, 2009
Dobbs is the only breath of fresh air on CNN. We know that CNN and all the other main stream media is controlled the CFR a branch off the international bankers tree. We also know that Obama your hand chosen puppet isn't a natural-born US Citizen and therefore not eligible to be prez. When the sleeping masses wake up there's going to be revolution. We know that you have prepared for that too but we still will shatter the matrix that you have the people living in. Your game is almost over. Obama is just a pawn. I'm talking to the man behind the curtain. Remember the movie (Wizard of Oz) Everybody WAKE UP!!!!!!
Red Flags | 10:28 a.m. July 31, 2009
Working in a career that investigates stories provided to determine payments for claims I see a lott of Red Flags in the Obama birth certificate story.

Is CNN afraid of really obtaining the facts?
Audrey Marie | 12:12 p.m. July 31, 2009
Lou Dobbs is a disrespectful bag of lies. He loves to stir the brew. Just like he would not let go of the lapel pin when President Obama was running for office he won't let go of his birth. Obama was born in Hawaii. That is a state. Our President was elected by the people and deserves respect. I believe Lou racist and I am a 74 year old educated white woman. I will not be watching Lou Dobbs at all anymore. He needs to be told by the President of CNN to publically apologize for trying to bring the PResident down with lies. ANd than let go.
Believe me CNN will suffer by keeping Lou Dobbs. To many lies from Lou's big mouth to people who are not equipped to argue with him. Some people actually believe MR. Dobbs. Maybe they do not read or have time to read. If he doesn't personally like what his guests say he rudely shuts them up until you agree with him. Do not let Mr Dobbs make your decision. He is an egotistical maniac.Change your TV channel.
Go Dobbs | 12:20 p.m. July 31, 2009
I have a lot more confidence in Lou Dobbs than I do in Barak Obama or even Scott D. Pierce. I don't agree with him about everything, and certainly not about the church promoting illegal immigration.

However, Lou Dobbs seems to me to be one of the few newsmen who speaks out about the real issues and dangers that face us.

I think Mr. Pierce ought to be more careful in calling on CNN to get rid of Lou Dobbs. How would you like it, Mr. Pierce, If some of us were to pressure the Deseret News to get rid of you?

Now as for where Barak Obama was born: I understand that Barak Obama's own grandmother in Kenya maintains that he was born in that country. His father's divorce papers indicate the same, and the people of Kenya likewise believe he was born there, and I think have even erected a monument in honor of his being born there. And this is just for starters. There is also the matter of the birth certificate itself (or lack thereof).

I say carry on with the good work, Lou Dobbs.

Anonymous | 12:36 p.m. July 31, 2009
When I see Dobbs on CNN, I immediately change the station. I watched a few times a few years ago, and that was enough.

I guess I really don't know what he is saying nowadays since my first few experiences were so negative I quit watching.
Haveanotherbeer | 3:26 p.m. July 31, 2009
You're too harsh on Lou. He's just a news guy. Nobody takes any of you seriously anymore. You're all a bunch of hacks who take yourselves way too seriously. The only difference among you is some of you take different sides once in a while, and when they do, you beat up on them.
Please Scott!!!! | 3:46 p.m. July 31, 2009
come on Scott, how dumb do you think folks are. It doesn't matter if Hawaii went paperless or not, any record kept on a database can be recalled and printed. The question that Dobbs is posing is VERY valid - show us the proof!!!!
K-Dog | 10:49 p.m. July 31, 2009
I agree MSNBC is left wing and FOX News is right wing but to say CNN is in the middle is crazy. And this coming from Scott Pierce a media report, how unobservant. It's funny how people on the left think CNN is in the middle. I can't think of one reporter on their station that is conservative. During the election whenever they would have their large panel of pundits it was always 8-2 or 7-3 in favor of left wing pundits. They would even state their biases. Didn't Mr. Pierce notice this? How could you not? Again I'm not denying FOX New is right wing but please don't be so unperceptive.

Get rid of OBAMA (not Lou, a great American hero), obama is 6 months into his term and STILL hides his origins like a big scam artist

GO LOU, GO BIRTHERS!
lynn | 7:09 a.m. Aug. 1, 2009
I use to watch Lou, but he has gone too far and is no longer giving us the news. All we get is his opinion and he sounds nuts.
Cecilia Walker | 8:16 a.m. Aug. 1, 2009
Lou is a sick fool who has no moral's or respect for the President. And if you put the truth in his face,he still would find it hard to beleive. So if losing your job for being stupid it's your own fault.May someone should ask what rock fell on your head while your mother was giving birth to you Lou,maybe we should be asking where is your birth cert. And may where did you come from,I hope you do lose your job because when a person as smart as you pretend to be,maybe truth wasn't alesson learn in your house. So know the truth your doom, done and over.Go give birth to all the lunitic's that ride your train of a sicken mind.
Zadruga Guy | 8:19 a.m. Aug. 1, 2009
Obama has no need to prove that he was born in Hawaii. In this country, you are considered innocent until proven guilty. Thus, Obama has no need to provide any evidence to prove that he IS a natural-born citizen. Instead, it is his critics who have the burden of proof. They must prove that he WAS NOT born in Hawaii. And they have not done so. I believe that the reason why they haven't is because they can't. Because their allegations are irrational. As is Lou Dobbs.
Jay | 3:19 p.m. Aug. 1, 2009
If Lou Dobbs is a nutcase, then Glenn Beck is totally insane!
kingfish | 6:33 a.m. Aug. 2, 2009
He has not produced the official copy of his birth certificate. The 'copy' he has produced is not the original. All Obama has to do is show the original copy and this will all go away. Zadruga, by your logic I could say I am the king of the world, I can fly and I have psychic powers, but since you can't prove I can't do any of those things, I will still maintain all that is true and I not allow anyone to question otherwise. When you apply for many jobs, any kind of school or passport etc, you need your birth certificate. Why does he get to be president and not show his? And personally, I don't even care for the rule, my problem is Obama is a Wallstreet puppit, backed by banking financiers and eugenicists. Look up his relationship with financier and gangsta Zbigniew Brzezinski, his stated mentor for example. There has not been a legitimate president since Kennedy, and their won't be another until there is a revolution.
Zadruga Guy | 7:31 p.m. Aug. 2, 2009
Kingfish, the "job requirements" for President of the United States" are listed in the Constitution. Nowhere in the Constitution is a requirement to show a birth certificate listed.

What the Constitution does mandate is being born in the United States, being at least thirty-five (with at least 14 of those years having resided in the United States), and receiving a majority of the votes cast by the Electoral College. There is no credible evidence that Obama was born anywhere other than in Hawaii. If there was, it would have have come to light during the election. No one is claiming that Obama is younger than 35. And the Electoral College votes were counted by the National Archives. Thus, there is no doubt in my mind but that Obama is the legal and lawful president.
jfmcel | 12:06 p.m. Aug. 3, 2009
If CNN fires Lou Dobbs, I promise never to mention again that Mitt Romney's dad was born in a Mexican polygamy outpost.
BTW George Romney remains my favorite anti-Vietnam war Republican...
Anonymous | 5:55 p.m. Nov. 11, 2009
Well the didn't fire him. He left of his own freewill - so I guess Chihuahua George is still fair game.
