Crossing the Plains - now there is a good game - palatable doses of stragegy, luck, math, and Church History. My kids loved this game - can't tell you how many FHEs over the years. Even one of their non-LDS friends who was a frequent FHE guest liked it enough to request it on several occasions. The only thing is that it's primarily auditory-based, wich is not necessarily a bad thing, but some kids and "visual" people lose interest about halfway through. Wish somebody would update it with visual and/or tactile elements.

Why in the world was this published? I was hoping for some gospel insight, or tip on helping children love the scriptures.
A lecture on the pros and cons of games was not the "answer" I was seeking -- sadly disappointing!

To Seeking answers

Board games and mormons go hand in hand. when I was a young adult growning up in Utah a mormon home consisted of a piano in the living room,a shelve full of chrch books,a small television to watch conference on,another shelve full of board games and a dining room table for 10 to play the board games.Family activities centered around board games.Thats why you have large families in Utah since it usually takes 4-8 players for a board game.
Well most board games are wholesome activities and mormon families do need wholesome activities in addition to scrapbooking and family history. Some of my close LDS friends would be lost with out their games.
