This is what's great about people who have money--making sure it helps others.

This is a far cry from Carlos "the lull in the economy is affecting me too" Boozer. Yes, take care of your family. Yes make sure you invest wisely and plan wisely. But help others too. Maybe it takes years of experience to get that. Maybe we (including me) should give some vocal basketball players a break.

I've said before that I'd like to have this particular trial to see what I can do with it, but that's easy to say when you're broke.

Didn't Karl Malone say in an interview that people have called him and demanded money or they'd kill themselves? I'd rather be poor than have that on my conscience.

For every dollar mentioned here, there are just as many choices of how the responsibility could be allocated for this money. Some may judge, get nit picky, or put themselves in the Miller's family shoes, but all I can say is "bravo" and "inspiring"!

It should be pointed out that this article is the first time Miller has been defined in print as a Billionaire, and while it was widely believed that he was, during his life he would never substantiate that rumor as fact himself. As the article says he lived a very humble life for all of his means. He will be remembered fondly and thought of well by all that knew him and by all of those who will come to know him by either watching the work of his foundation or being the beneficiaries of it.

Just another article about a great man!!! Mr Miller will live on forever. It was a privilege to partake of the fruits of his labor. At every one of his ventures, you see the love that he put into things. What a fantastic role model.

I noticed that too, but just because it's in print doesn't mean it's correct. I would take it with a grain of salt. I've never seen him on the list of Forbe's richest people which usually includes all billionaires, but who knows, maybe he is. Either way he has lots of dough.

I was a financial clerk over a local ward once. One of Larry's employees got cancer and was dying. He annonomously came to the Bishop and told him he would take care of all the family's expenses but didn't want them to know. I was impressed with anonymous generosity.

Larry was on a sports talk radio show about a year before his death and said that he was NOT a billionaire but seemed to suggested that it was close.

Many people believe you have to have money first before you can give it away. Studies show those who are truly rich give money first, even if it isn't a lot. Miller (as well as Jon Huntsman) is a good example of that. Huntsman gave before he ever had lots of money. Charitable giving also creates more happiness and happiness brings success. We should all be more charitable with our money or our time or even in giving blood. It is good for the soul.

All I can say, is that Mr Miller and his family have used righteous dominion over the money that they have been blessed with.

Miss you, man. :'-(

Just remembered...

If you'd like to hear Mr Miller in fine form, David Locke and he used to have weekly convos on the show at KFAN that were truly a highlight of my week.

LHM had a way of simplifying things that all could identify with, and Locke had a way of getting him to open up as if they were just a couple ol' pals shootin' the bull on a lazy summer afternoon.

Hopefully they're still hangin' around in the archives at KFAN.

Well done Mr. Miller.
