Yeah, right.
This is hilarious!
Not going to make any difference.
I find it amazing gay people are asking for equal rights. Where do they think they are? America?
The Founding Fathers and the teachings of Jesus are very clear- all men are not created equal, and we should not treat others how we want to be treated.
Keep up the good work. One signature at a time...
Wow! 1,360 signatures. Maybe the church we re-consider if there were 1,360,000 signatures.
BUT...what might, is if members started leaving. If you truly believe your church is wrong on this (or other issues), you shouldn't be a member.
Jesus exists in other religions.
well maybe not.
The Church is not against equal rights. They are for a marriage between a man and a woman. Simple as that. They will not change their position because it goes against the doctrine and principles they espouse. It is unnatural any other way. The only thing this group is doing is alienating them from the main stream. If I were a business owner, there was a time I would not have an issue hiring one who was gay or lesbian, and was qualified. But, with this show of activism, I question if it would be wise to hire one who would throw this card at you if you had to fire them or any other form of discipline for infractions in the work place. Something to think about and consider.
Fuzzy Wuzzi was a fuzzy at least he can sign his name on a petition that ain't gonna work..
God's plan does not have people of the same sex pairing off together in the eternities. There is a reason He gave a man and a woman the power of procreation and not two men or two women. I personally respect someone's choice to be homosexual, but don't expect Christ's church to sanction something that has been clearly condemned in the scriptures and is fundementally against His plan for His children.
why not consider doing as we have, Its about having legal rights with partners and the pension funds etc.I think that is what the real argument is about, have a legal binding partnership without calling it a marriage. We have let them have thier rights without compromising our mormon faith. But I agree with the church - marriage is a religous covenant between man, women and God. Let the gay community go back to square 1 and look again at what you are asking for and re-difine it. LEGAL PARTNERSHIP. Its easy and both sides will be happy about it.
I thought the Church encouraged people to stand up for what they believed in regardless of what the crowd thinks. Just because the Church isn't going to change its' mind (at least not for the foreseeable future) doesn't mean that this group shouldn't do this.
And people like Come on! apparently love nothing more than to play the victim...
This is textbook "we do not have enough readers this weekend, so lets throw in something stupid and controversial"
The only reason this story is covered now (it was covered a month ago) is because readers are out doing something other than flaming these boards.
Don't fall into the trap.
What is surprising how many people don't really know how marriage is defined in the bible... For a real education, go to youtube and search for 'Betty Bowers'. Then watch as 'America's Best Christian' explains a biblical based marriage to everyone else. Who knows, you may even get a chuckle out of it.
Maybe his plan is for some to be gay....
Mormons restored all the ancient covenants and practices from the bible and this is why poligamy was practiced as in ancient times to protect families, its okay in other cultures. And still marriage is still a union that involves God.
Go for it. Knock yourselves out.
What are the policies and practices that the church should give up? I don't believe that changes within the church have anything to do with activists making their point.
Didn't He, The Master, give us all different problems that we are to overcome by His example and thru the Atonement? If this is so, yet a gay is to be a gay by design, then wouldn't He heal all of us who are sick of gays?
