I'm looking forward to a good conservative governor with common sense. Best wishes, Governor Herbert.

Regarding, "a good conservative governor with common sense."

I think Utah's brand of conservative politics and genuine common sense are mutually exclusive.

Herbert will probably end up competing with the the nuttier factions of the legislature's far-right to see who can be the farthest right.

I'm not at all enthusiastic about the state's health during Herbert's (hopefully short) term of office.

"A good conservative governor with common sense" is what we had with Governor Huntsman. Hopefully Herbert will follow in Huntsman's mold. If he tries to wrench the state government further to the right, he will do us all a disservice and will need to be replaced by someone who DOES have common sense.

when people plead with him to not have a coronation, his supporters said he was not like obama spending millions. he was a simple re-publican spending thousands.

the word SPENDING is what comes across. herbie is not as bad as obama.

does that mean he can CON us with his conservative talk? so far he appears to none other than obama -lite.
Stop pushing Gochnour | 5:00 p.m. July 26, 2009
I'm tired of Webb constantly pushing Natalie Gochnour for whatever political ambitions she might have. First the 2nd District seat and now this. We all know the two of you worked together under the Leavitt regime, so you can leave the lovefest at the door. No one else seems to be talking about Natalie but you.

Besides, once Chamber CEO Lane Beattie declares his candidacy for governor, I doubt Natalie wants to be stuck as an attack dog against her old boss.

Natalie doesn't have the qualifications to be the Lt. Governor and certainly nothing close to being Governor. Besides, as she has been bad-mouthing Herbert all over town since the May announcement, I'm not convinced that Herbert has positive feelings about her.

Natalie Gochnour is smart. She's an economist by trade and is respected by many. She has the chutzpah and brains to be Lt. Governor. Governor Herbert and Utah would be lucky to have her serve as Lt. Gov.

I ran a small state program under Governor Leavitt and had an opportunity to interact on occasion with Ms. Gochnour. She is a very bright individual who is extremely responsible on financial matters and one who makes sound decisions after receiving input from parties on all sides of an issue. I'm sure her experience with Utah's business community for the past several years has served to only enhance her knowledge base. From my perspective, I would be honored for her to serve as my lt. gov. if the opportunity arose and she chose to do so.

I just hope the democrats are looking to 2010 and give us a great candidate. After having Gary Herbert as a County Commissioner, I do not want him to be Governor any longer then necessary. He is not the best person for the job and unless he has someone who is a liberal republican(is there such a person in this state?) it will be a very bumpy 17 months. He is anti-mass transit, UTA or any other kind, anti-public education, no matter what he portrays now-watch out when he really gets the power, he is pro-raising his salary and those who agree with him and anti-the rest of the government employees.

He is not my choice and I am a registered republican!
