just trade boozer already please there have been so many rumors i know the jazz are trying to get the best deal but its late in free agency and most of the players are off the market sing and trade with someone it seems that every team has been mentioned in a trade scenario with the jazz for boozer: heat nets rockets knicks bulls warriors and many more just trade him
Hmm, one of two scenarios
1) Boozer is healthy, helps NY Knicks win games. Jazz get a good (but not equivalent) David Lee. Unfortunately this HELPs the Knicks get out of the lottery (possible) and the Jazz decrease the value of their unprotected draft pick. Overall this is a horrible outcome
2) Boozer gets hurt, as usual. Knicks give away one of their best big men, for a bum. The Knicks stink even worse and the Jazz get a top 3 lottery pick.
I am going to BET, that Boozer actually plays hard this year. It is a contract year and people have continually questioned his worth. I think trading anyone to the Knicks to make them better isn't a good idea. The draft pick is too valuable to kick yourself in the face.
KOC and Jazz made there bed, by matching portland for Millsap and by holding upthe trade with portland and bulls, so Now sleep in it KOC. Millsap is going to do nothing for us? all we did was pay a guy more money and now your thinking we are better? come on get real we still need a defense guy in the middle!!
take the money there is no team in I. Do what you gotta do to make that green nah mean...
Do it!!!!
Getting Lee would be intriguing, he can guard most 3's.. Another option would be to get Lee and Curry for Boozer and Brewer.. AK could play some 2 as well...
KOC - just do something!!
Don't do anything to help the Knicks this year. I like Lee but don't like the idea of lowering the Knicks pick to bring in Millsap II.
Yeah, let's send Booz to NY where he can make sure our 1st round draft pick doesn't get us into a lottery. Dumb move, unless Lee is that much better than Booz that a useless draft pick won't hurt next year.
I'm conflicted about the Boozer trade ideas. I think he can be a distraction on the team (even if the team members "should" be professional and leave those distractions out). It's human nature; how can you take back a guy who has openly said I want to play in Chicago or Miami. That's a diss to DWill and company. At least that's what I think. But I'm conflicted because it would be better to keep the team together than to "give" Boozer away for less in return. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Go Jazz!!!
I am a Knicks fan and love David Lee but the guy who worte this article obviously hasn't seen him play very much. He compliments Lee on what solid defense he plays which could not be any further from the truth. Lee withotu a doubt hussles more than most NBA players but one of the biggest knocks on him is his defense, especially in the post.
Aside from the now-defunct rumor of Battier and Landry for Boozer and Fez trade, I think the best option is to hang on to Boozer for the final year. He's going to be motivated because it's a contract year for him. This next season will likely be his best year, yet. I know that we'll lose him for nothing at the end, but I'm optimistic about Kosta Koufos stepping in.
With or without Boozer, the Knicks ARE NOT lottery bound this year.. D'Antoni's system will see to that.. Why not grab a great hustle/talent/team guy like Lee now in the hopes of getting lucky with pick number 17 or something next year?
yawn and yawn, Boozie will still be in Jazz Uniform for this year and maybe for life like NWO
I don't like this trade. Lee is a great player but he essentially gives us more of what we've already got at the PF position. Lee is a hustle player, a hard worker, and a good rebounder, but he is limited offensively. Not much of a jump shooter and sub par post-moves. He is also only about 6'9" and his defensive abilities aren't all that great.
His strengths and weaknesses roughly equate to what Millsap gives us. We would probably be better off just player Kirilenko at the 4. Plus, it would just mean fewer minutes for guys like Koufos and Fesenko, and they certainly have more potential to become the defensive stoppers we need than Lee.
Finally, Lee's asking price is in the ballpark of $10M. That's overpaying for an undersized PF of his skillset and would just lock us into another lousy longterm contract. Basically, unless we turn around and use him as a chip in a later trade, this ties our hands and keeps us from acquiring the consistent shooting and defense we need at the 2 and 3.
First of all I should say that I hate Boozer rumors, and this sounds like another one that has zero chance of happening. With that being said...
If this trade helps us get rid of Boozer with adequate compensation then the Jazz should do it. Lee would be great here, and he would probably be likely to stay for a few years. I think it's idiotic to worry TOO MUCH about the Knick's draft pick that the Jazz will get.
The Jazz can't afford to keep Boozer from the Knicks when there is a good deal on the table, just to wait to see what will be available in the lottery next year. Look at this year's lottery - I don't think there is a big difference maker besides Griffin. I wouldn't want to waste this deal for what may or may not be available in the lottery next year. And the Knicks might still land in the lottery with Boozer.
"But such a move would undoubtedly prove to be popular with the team's fanbase – given Lee's reputation for solid defense and hustle play."
You've got to be kidding me, Coon. Name one person who has ever spoken highly of David Lee's "solid defense" (other than D-Antoni who doesn't have a lick of credibility when speaking about D). You've got a point when citing his hustle play, but David Lee is not a solid defender and never will be, I'm sorry if you were misled to believe otherwise. I now demand a retraction! :)
Andre MIller just accepted a 3-year deal with portland today which means no way any 3 team deal will involve the Jazz and Blazers now. It also means that Portland is the team to beat in the division this year with their youth, length, skill and now solid PG play. Jazz need to deal just to keep up now. Standing pat might get us to Round 2, but it will not win a title.
Keep Boozer and let AK go. That would the ideal trade for the Jazz. As for Boozer not playing defense, I would take him over Malone on the defensive end anytime.
Good trade; get Lee for Boozer then trade Kirilenko this year for whatever expiring contract you have to take back; they get cap relief after this coming year because AK's two year contract would be off the books and the expiring contract comes off the books at the end of this year. Extend Korver for a smaller per year contract (4-5 mil per) and let Harpring come off the books next year. Milsap can play the 3 at times with Lee at the 4. With all this and a good Knick's pick they are set for a good team.
Same Jazz team that went to Western Conference Finals.
