Beauty is free and so is gratitude and uplifting words, instead of all this whining, mixed in with supposed praise for Utah.

OSC said it best "we're both champion talkers"--and for some reason, Mormon Times chooses its readers to be on the receiving end of all that talking.

Utah really does have the worst architecture in the nation. The Church Office Building certainly doesn't help either. What were they thinking?!

Everything (well, almost) man-made in Utah is ridiculously ugly and looks cheap and has 0 character. But Card is right. There is so much beauty in the valley (mountains, downtown, sugarhouse), that it keeps me here regardless of what a blight the majority of the buildings are. There are great people and lots of fun outdoorsy things to do so I stay here, fixing up my house to look like at least some Mormons have some class. Despite it all, I enjoy Utah and I enjoy the beauty that is here. Even though nobody knows how to pluralize words without an apostrophe.

I think some Utah architecture is absolutely amazing and beautiful. You simply have to know where to look for it. Beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder. It seems those who think Utah buildings are exceptionally ugly (especially to other citys, states or nations) are expecting way too much and should get out more often.
