What an amazing tribute to an amazing man. I don't know him but have been inspired by his devotion to his family both in life and in death. May God bless his family with peace that he is watching over them still.
A true Father and Patriarch. They will all meet again.
god bless in jesus name
My prayers will be with the Pederson family.
Kim, what do you mean a lapse in judgment?? They were out playing in the water, probably on a fun day together or a sta-cation. Everyone does this, and it is NOT a lepse in jugdment to go and have fun once in a while!
He sounds like the "best dad in the world"!! My condolences to his family and friends. I'm sure he'll keep an eye on them all from above!
What a terrible thing to happen. My uncle died the same way in Nevada... trying to keep his son from drowning. My condolences.
Wow this truley is the ulimate sacrifice for the father. God bless those three boys now without a father and that they don't forget what he did for them.
The Scott I knew would not put his two young sons in a dangerous situation. I'm sure he thought the water temp was fine and that his two little boys could handle themselves in deep water just fine. As a diver, he's dived in colder water without a problem so there was no reason to think the little ones couldn't handle it. KSL said he was teaching them to swim, but I think they already knew how.
It was an honor working with scott for 3 years he was truly a great guy and an amazing father..
I will forever miss your smile and the soft tunes that you whistled or sang at work.. You were a good friend and coworker. My thoughts and prayers
This man lived up to the calling of father. He gave his life to save his little ones. His boys will forever have a bond to him that death cannot break. God bless him and comfort his family.
What a moving story. My heart aches for his wife, kids and family members, but what a champ for doing what he did. We all come across situations in life that are not ideal, some of them happen to us, some of them we happen to put ourselves in. How we act once we are in the situation is what matters most. I'm not sure what happened that day, what all of the circumstances were at the lake, but I hope that if I were in this circumstance that I would do the same for my kids.
Has there been a "fund" set up at a local bank for donations to assist this family? I am certain his wife would benefit from assistance and instead of people second guessing the event, let's do something helpful and donate $1. ea to help funding kids college costs, or assist with other expenses. If one has been set up - then the newspaper should have listed it. And, if it has not, please, someone in the area get the word out to help! If everyone in St. George area gave just $1.... just think how great that could be for this family. It can be our thanks for Scott's fine service in the military.
I cannot set it up as I am not in St. George.
What a tremendous father he is and always will be. And a sweetheart of a husband to care for his darling wife. My heart goes out to you.
A fund has been set up for the family through Zion's Bank. I know his family would appreciate anyone's generosity on the behalf of those little boys. It's the "Scott Pederson Memorial fund."
May God bless you and your family
I knew Scott when he was in the military station in North Carolina. He was one of those few people with a genuine beautiful soul. I am honored to have known him for the time that I did. God Bless you Scott!
I know the extended family and you will never meet better people. Why does it always happen to the truly good people of the world. May God bless and keep you all!!!!!!!
I knew Scott when he was in the military. All of his former co-workers are devastated. We all remember his kindness and since of humor. He will truly be missed. Prayers to the family.
I find it interesting that my simple comment about a good lesson in life jackets gets moderated. No judging and did not violate the rules of abusive, offesive, off topic or misrepresentative. Life jackets would have saved lives here just like seat belts do. We should all see that lesson from the outside looking in. Tragic story and heroric sacrifice.
Ksl reported that he was teaching his kids to swim. Why hasnt that been reported here?
