BYU season motto

Hopefully it will be "quest for national championship" this year so the Utes will win the national championship!

Kruger is still open!

Home Field?

I wonder if the fact that BYU plays TCU at home this year factored in to the poll. BYU's awfully good at home and their three hardest in-conference games will be in Provo this year; Utah, TCU and Air Force.

so

Hopefully all 3 of our teams can end up in the top 25 again, it would only help out the conference.

Once again...

BYU gets all the love and respect and they won't deliver! They manage to consistantly get picked high even though they always "underachieve". What they "should do" and what they "actually do" are always two completely different things!

Can't wait...

for football season to get here. Looks like this season will be much like last year. TCU, Utah and BYU have clearly separated themselves from everyone else, and should have 3 outstanding games to decide the conference title.

As a Ute, the only spots I'm concerned with are QB and Kicker. Everything else will take care of itself, and the defense could be even better than last year. Front seven will be dominating.

TCU lost some playmakers on D, but that is one place they seem to reload quickly. Their speed gives BYU too many problems, but can be matched by the Utes. Utes have played will in Fort Worth.

BYU has both contenders at home, which is the only reason they are in the title hunt. 4 new O-Lineman, new FB (big part of their run game), and 2 new WR's (1 a return missionary). Nice to have the senior QB, but interesting to see if the line can protect him, and someone other than Pitta can catch a ball. Plus that same defense is back, not a good sign for Cougar fans.

waste of time

Preseason rankings are such a joke. How many times have these geniuses actually gotten this right in the preseason. I recall last time TCU was picked to finish first they ended up third. Ditto with BYU. I just hope nobody puts any weight in this.

Magic Happens

Mitch Payne? Really?

Re: Once again...

So what was BYU picked to do in '06 and '07? How did they "underachieve" if they managed to win the conference outright both years? Sure you could argue that they underachieved last year but where exactly does the qualify that they "always underachieve"? You probably just like to use blanket statements even though you have no idea what you're talking about.

Just like last year.....

Let the Utes fly under the Radar! Good luck finishing second zoobs....your Defense couldn't stop at a red light.

DB

Not one PRE-SEASON ALL-CONFERENCE DB for BYU?

?

how did byu get all the love they are picked to finish second... and they only got 5 all-mwc picks... looks likes someone has envy issues

NO WAY

1. TCU
2. Utah
3. Air Force
4. BYU

BYU has NO DEFENSE - AGAIN!!! There is no way BYU beats Utah and I really doubt they get by Air Force either.

To "Once again..."@11:19--

So does "always underachieve" include when they repeated as MWC champions in both 2006-07 and 2007-08, or did you just blank these years out of your memory so your comment would at least make some sense in your own mind?

The "love and respect" they get comes from consistently vying for the conference championship every year, with the exceptions of Crowton's tenure and a few tough years under LaVell. And even then they won the championship once under Crowton.

Any problems of "underachieving" from BYU have as much to do with impossible expectations from BYU football fans as they do with the performance of the team. Under any realistic set of expectations, BYU deserves every last bit of love and respect that they receive.

Bugs you doesn't it?

All that love and respect BYU gets is just galling isn't it? What have they done to deserve it? Why them? Why? Why? Why do top recruits want to play there? Why? Why does the media love them? Why?

Why not us? Look what we've done! You should be jealous of us, of our coach, of our schedule, of our . . . everything.

Is it just not fair or do you need to take off the glasses?

RE: Can't Wait

You seem to know a lot about BYU football for a ewet. But your facts are a little off. Our "new" FB is Tonga who has been a starter at FB two years at BYU. Our "new" WR coming off of a mission is Jacobsen, who you should remember, caught the pass to set up the final play in 2006. Oh and as a ewet you are only concerned with QB and kicker? What about the 2 NFL caliber corners and a 2nd round pick at DE? Do guys just "step in" and fill holes that were vacated by NFL caliber players?? Utah is going to have a long year and Sakoda will be the most missed. Sorry Utes hopefully you can make another run in 4 years.

I really don't understand the hype around preseason rankings and all-conference teams. Pull on the pads and let's talk about all of this in November.

Ha Ha

The poor little ewets never get any love.

Choke

After BYU's embarrassing finish last year, I think it's a bit of a stretch to put them at two. I think Utah will finish second behind TCU, with BYU coming up third. No doubt though, TCU, Utah, and BYU stand alone atop the conference. Hopefully, all three will be ranked again this year, proving again that the MWC is as elite as any.

Funny how Utah wants to pretend like they're not concerned with the team that's gone 32-7 over the last 3 seasons and has a solid returning core, including their QB. Delusion reigns supreme on the Hill, I suppose.

Pre season does not mean a thing!
