What a great gift

This is just a great gift for our President of the United States. And kind words of thanks to President Monson from Obama.

Winder's ambitions

Why is Winder being quoted in this article? This guy is just an ambitious politician who is running for mayor in West Valley, annointed by the reigning elite in that city to take over in city hall. He wants two things: to sell more of his books and to get a higher office. He doesn't belong in an article like this.

Bush and Hinckley

Didn't Bush meet with President Hinckley when Bush came to Utah for the Winter Olympics?

Anon

What a great gift! It feels good to know that the President appreciates all of the work that was put into that. I hope it's the first of many meetings between the Prophet and the President

Mary

I hope they use ancestry.com for their research? The records are wonderful!

jann

Glad they were able 2 meet. We need to include them both in our prayers.

Dixie Dan

Gee, I wonder what the Pedigree Chart listed as President Obama's birth place? That should stop the lunatic fringe about still complaining about his birthplace.

Perfect Example of Love

What a kind and gracious gift!!
Trust President Monson to do the kind thing.

Good gesture but...

Nice gesture from President Monson but I highly doubt someone like Obama will see any value in it. Obama is a left wing radical and has made it clear who his enemies are - Fox News, all republicans, anyone who attends a tea-party, and I'm sure Utah is not on his places to visit list.

PDX

Always nice to have nice people meet with nice people. It's good to see leaders pay courtesy visits.

Mike Winder

Anyone who hasn't read Mike Winder's book should. It's thorough and enjoyable - or at least it was thorough until today.

President Monson and company

What a wonderful thing for the president of the church to meet with the president of the country. And what a wonderful thing that the ranking senator is a faithful member of the church and helped facilitate it.

We've come a long way since Elder Smoot was denied his seat for all those years.

Ethan

The President of the Church sets an example to be nice and courteous. Too bad most of the LDS people who comment in the DN forums are too full of vitriol to take notice and/or emulate such an example, especially to those whose beliefs (politically or otherwise) differ from their own.

Great job, Pres. Monson! Keep up the good work.

Hopefully.....

Pres Monson's (and those of the researchers) will put to rest all of the silly hoaxes surrounding our President's birth.

It's nice to see such early respect for our President, who is tackling a very hard job.

ok..?

This Is NEWS? Only in Utah i guess...

Frank Burns

Yes, PDX, it's nice to be nice to the nice.

atilio

come here? He did and I met him in August 2007.

If I were Obama....

...I wouldn't come here, either.

Too many Utahns are threatening (you have NO idea!) and hating (we can see it, right above here).

If Utahns could put away their hatred and accept the fact that a black man is truly the President of our great country, you might see him visit.

But right now? You haven't "earned it". (Yes, that's what we used to say about blacks.)

Paul

Thanks for covering this. It's exciting to know that these great men are talking and hopefully listening to each other. None of these men had to meet the others but they did. I wish I could know what their conversation was.

@ Good gesture but...

If those are Obama's enemies, I think the LDS Church is safe.

KSL is a competitor of Fox; the LDS Church is not affiliated with any political party; and tea is against the Word of Wisdom, so maybe he and President Monson can be friends after all! :-)
