Wake up Utah

The evangelical base of the Republican party think Mormons are a cult, they will never accept a Mormon candidate. They stomach Mormons like children eat vegetables just so they can leave the dinner table.

11%

If UNEMPLOYEEMENT reaches 11%, OBAMA'S numbers will drop to a point where 45% would look great.

I still cannot imagine ROMNEY defeating the CHRISTIAN RIGHT. A piece in the DN recently indicated that CONS can get away with any behavior as long as they repent. If this piece was true it would seem that some PUBLIC REPENTERS would be able to move ROMNEY aside.

Bill Baumgardner Sr.

I will vote for Romney "IF" he apologizes for the two lies he told when he ran before about abortion & same sex marriage, that he supported them both to be elected in the most liberal, left wing state in this country. Not until. And if these two are the only choice we get, without that public apology, I will stay at home on election day. Thank you.

lala

ROMNEY all the way!

OUCH!

To: Bill Baumgardner, Sr:

That'll teach him!

Arizona guy

Mike Huckabee shook up a presidential election when he spoke code to Evangelical Christians and reminded them of what they’d been taught in Sunday School all those years, that some religions are cults. Pastors figured out decades ago that the best way to keep the flock from listening to other churches is to criticize their doctrine. They’d have you believe they’re protecting you from false doctrine. That’s their big concern, they say.

Let’s think about this. Many Evangelicals also have serious concerns about a long list of Catholic doctrines and practices that they do not consider Biblical. But Catholics usually get a pass because they pose no threat to the Evangelical flock. When’s the last time a Catholic missionary came to your door?

Evangelical pastors are basically good people trying to earn a living, and losing part of the flock doesn't help that effort. Which brings us to the real concern: losing members of the flock.

Seems to explain why they mainly target faiths that send out missionaries, i.e., Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, etc. The real concern is not doctrine, but losing the flock (and the dollars that follow).

one rising the other falling

one is rising and the other is falling - guess which is which. Give comrade Obama another year or two and his approval rating should be somewhere near 30%.

Re: Bill Baumgardner

I suppose for the sake of fairness, you will demand an apology from Obama about the lies he told about not raising taxes on people who make less than $250k?

re: Bill Baumgardner, Sr.

Question: Did you support Ronald Reagan? Did you know he and Romney had the same position on abortion; that it was wrong but should be left up to the individual's free choice...then with time they both changed their minds and realized it was too crucial to be left up to choice.

Personally, even as a conservative, I support Romney in wanting Gays to be treated fairly but like Romney, I am against Gay marriage.

I wish Mitt had seen eye with me originally, but he didn't. That said, he is the smartest, best choice to deal with the financial mess we are in, and his personal life shows he is a very good person. I hope you don't believe the lies and twists the anti-Mormons have smeared him with. I researched their insinuations and found the truth. Try it.

ROMNEY 2012

Article quote: "If voters get to choose between Republican Mitt Romney and Democratic President Barack Obama in the 2012 election, a new national poll suggests the race would be too close to call.
Both Romney and Obama had the support of 45 percent of respondents to a new Rasmussen Reports poll released Monday."

Wow! I bet the anti-Romney-ites are going to FREAK when they read this!!!!!!!

ROMNEY 2012!!!!!!!!!!

Democrat Troll Alert

Oh brother!....

You're a troll, an anti-Utahn (and likely an anti-Mormon) who is only trying to make the average Utahn feel like his vote doesn't matter.

Pathetic.

Not Utahns, YOU!

Re: Bill Baumgardner Sr.

I guess we know where you will be on election day.

Oh, come on

You are all basing your opinions on Romney's religion; without that, you wouldn't have a clue about his political background.

I asked a coworker last year, what Romney had done before he ran for President. the answer? "Governor of Utah". That was from someone who considered himself VERY politically astute...but when it came to Romney, the brain-switch turned OFF when information tried to come in.

Lute

Dear Bill B,
Does Mitt's apology have to be personal at your front door, or will a general statement expressing contrition be sufficient?

ironic

I tire of the argument that "evangelicals will never vote for a Mormon". There may be some truth to that, but the argument is also used as cover for those on the left who want to divert blame for their own religious predjudice onto those on the right. The phrase "Liberals will never vote for a Mormon" is more accurate, just not likely to be read in otherwise biased mainstream publications like the New York Times or Newsweek, because it would be recognized as the predjudice that it is (Harry Reid is an exception - although most Mormons would not vote for him and he is about to lose in Nevada anyhow)

Huckabee

Wait until I get on Romney's neck again - he won't win anything...

Ed

Once Mitt picks up the liberal wealthy vote and the hispanic vote, he can surely defeat Obama in 2012 or any democrat

Bill Baumgardner Sr.

You go Billy. You should stay home and let rational people vote.

C.W.

A LOT can happen between now and 2012. BUT - if both parties continue their bickering and continue to demonstrate how ineffective they are I'll go with a third party, just like I did last election.

More people need to consider a third party!

um hate to burst your bubble

But the next election is 3 years away. Why do we care right now?
