Don't count your chickens before they hatch, RH. The Jazz aren't going to give Boozer away for a song, and f the right offer doesn't present itself, don't be surprised to see Boozer at Utah's fall camp in October.

Peace out from the Jazz Oracle.

Steve from Jersey

Amen.

Boozer always be soft

Boozer plays soft and always will. Not worth the big money paid him.

Don't assume Millsap

is permanently going to replace Boozer at PF if you have any hope of a championship. Millsap has not demonstrated he can even play a year at PF much less replace Boozer.

Millsap will most likely need to be replaced in the next year or so if the Jazz have any aspirations of a championship. They should have aspirations since they are paying enough money to be a contender.

I am sick of the Jazz not going out and getting the talent needed to contend. They are paying for it. Why drink the continuity Kool Aid when everyone knows continuity will never provide enough talent to win.

The Jazz have the opportunity to replace players and fix the problems this year in the fire sales and next. They can get the talent. They can put together a team that can win on the road, win back to backs and play defense without giving up efficiency on offense.

The first thing they did was resign Okur who is weak on defense. Then they over paid Millsap who will never be "good enough" at PF. He will get better.

The Jazz are incapable of creating a contender. It starts with Sloan.

I don't hate Boozer

However, I am not crying at the prospect of him going. Why?

Because he was not good enough at PF to win the West. Millsap is even less talented and that is a very good reason to cry.

The idiots who run the Jazz will insist on playing Millsap for 4 years and wonder why they can't beat LA and SA.

It will be obvious to everyone that he can't defend tall athletic PFs who will shoot over him. It will also be obvious to everyone (especially opposition players) that he can't run the pick and roll nor make outside shots. He will also get blocked inside.

The Jazz will continue to force the ball into him and get turnovers, just like they did with Boozer. And they will wonder why they can't win.

So after 4 years, in the name of continuity the Jazz will give him a big raise and try for another 4 years.

A real PF needs to be found and added in the next year or so. If not, then the Jazz need to abandon the Sloan system. It won't work without the right PF or shooting SG.

Its a shame to see so much talent go to waste! He just doesnt have the killer instinct. he plays like a small forward, I miss the old mail man days! He would actually dunk the ball and drive to the hole and dray fould

Good article, nails it on the head. The article spoke of what we like about boozer and what we dislike. It's a love/hate relationship. If the Jazz were to have kept boozer, i think they'd be better off in the win column, but it really would've been frustrating because of what you think should happen. One thing the article forgot to mention, how boozer always talked about winning a championship--yet, but his play never backed up his words, boozer talked too much it became ingeniuous. there's alot of good teams out there, busting their butts, and boozer is talking about championships and dominating and he doesn't box out, instead he's floating around the paint looking for cheap boards to pad his stat line.

Rumor is Biedrins is being

shopped. A trade of Boozer for Biedrins might put the Jazz into contention. Okur could play PF. That gives the Jazz a match for tall line ups and gives the PF both an inside and outside game.

Biedrins makes 9 Mill so the Jazz would get some salary relief if they could pull it off.

They would also need a SG to make for up Boozer's lost points. Harp's contract could cover that.

Come on

John McEnroe once said, "YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!"
I would like to issue that same statement to the num-nut Kevin O'Connor. It's obvious to see that you can't ever contend for a championship if you don't go out and get some talent. Other than Deron who do the Jazz have? A vastly over-payed under-achieving Kirilenko? A guy who can shoot the 3, but when anything else is thrown at him he stumbles in Okur? How aboat an under-sized PF in Millsap? Oh, and don't forget aboat the 'shooting' guard who has NO range in Brewer. It's plain to see that unless we get some talent around Williams, we certainly have no chance at winning anything. Why not go out and get some talent instead of sitting around and watching others get the Ron Artests, Vince Carters, Hedo Turkoglus, or the Shaun Marions?! Can't you see that Kirilenko can't live up to his millions?? Why not trade him and his $ away for someone at least half-decent?
I might be wrong, but that's my opinion.

I personally don't see Millsap as a long term answer at power forward, but really after the one year he isn't really getting paid top-tier starting PF money either. At 7mil a year or so, I don't have a problem with him as a hardworking 6th man. Harp has been making around 6mil, so it's not that bad. Now it's a matter of the Jazz somehow finding that right PF, either a free agent next year with the extra money we should have or even a top flight prospect with the Knick's draft pick. We'll still have Millsap as a very good insurance policy if the draft pick doesn't develope quick. It's not the worst thing in the world to be a competitive playoff team every year. I'll take that over the Clippers situation all day. Patience everyone, unless we get the next Duncan or Shaq, we're 2-3 years away.

By the way, if you haven't looked up Tyrus Thomas on youtube, you should do it. I'll take an athletic PF like that for Booz. We need some D.

LT

I liked boozers numbers but I hated his defense. My hope is that Millsap will step up to the plate and get consistent double doubles of 14-16 points and 10+ rebounds. Then get a shoting gaurd that can penetrate dribble and give us that extra 10 points we need a night from the 2 position to make up for the loss of points from Boozer. Boozer is not good for the chemistry of the team so he needs to be traded. We still need the defensive presence in the middle too.

I think we can all learn a lesson about taking guys out of big programs. Boozer from Duke and Big Greg from Kansas. I think I like the idea of Gonzaga and Louisiana Tech a little better.

Round the Mound

Milsap is 6'8" and Charles Barkley is 6'4". They play the same type of basketball. Rebounders, Hustle on every play, 110% every night, undersized power forwards.

I believe Milsap will be an All-Star, but in this case we don't need him to be an All-Star when we have D-Will and Memo. We have enough other 10 and 10 players to make up the slack for Boozers 20 and 10. Plus without Boozers liability on defense Milsap only needs to be a 10 and 10 player.

Work on your jumper

Work on you jumper, Milsap. You'll need it for the pick and pop.

This article is right on

I am far from a Boozer hater, but I agree that he must go. As the article says, he is a guy that, when he is playing and motivated, is a top 5 power forward in the league and a guy that makes the Jazz better. However, the "if he is playing and motivated" caveat is a situation that is too far and in between. I bet that he has an amazing season this year, especially if he does not have a contract extension in place. However, I will take Udonis Haslem any day of the week. I think that is a trade that works for everybody too, since Booz is likely to play hard for Miami with something to prove. Haslem provides the Jazz everything they need at the 4, a hardworking bad@sss who will do whatever needs to be done and will appreciate playing with DWill, and will play some D. I think that anybody who does not like that trade (which, despite Riley's act, is totally a possibility) is a moron. Let's play some D and get rid of a clubhouse cancer while we are at it.

I really wish people would stop complaining about Milsap and that he can't live up to being a starting PF. Everyone here wanted Boozer gone, well it looks like jazz fans will get their wish. With Paul knowing he will be the starter, do you not think he will work on getting stronger, quicker, and developing his outside shot with an inside move. Everyone needs to remember what malone was like when he came into the league. Sure he could put up some points. But, he could not shoot, and his inside moves were nill. What did he do, he worked his butt off and developed and outside game and an inside game. He bulked up and became one of the best PF in history. Now, I am not saying Paul will be Karl malone. But, we can all say as Jazz fans that we have seen what hard work can do. So, give paul a shot at the starting PF, and shot to show us how hard he really can work to make himself a big piece for the Jazz. Paul will be a 23/11 guy and actually play defense, unlike someone else we know.

re:come on

There is a reason Marion and Artest are being bounced around the league and it's not because they are great players. I'd rather have a motivated ak47 than either.

Mark my words

Get rid of Boozer and AK will rise to the occasion.

Finally!!

Someone in the media put his finger right on the problem and wrote it in bold black print -- thanks Hollis!!

malone and stockton are a good reference, and jazz fans like the way they play. so, millsap is more like malone in the hard work and could be talented enough to be near malone's image.

deron williams could be closed to stockton's profile, and could be the cornerstone in that position. and we hope millsap could fill that hole.

and say goodbay kirilenko.
