I lived in Independence about 30 years ago. It is a very beautiful city. I have returned 3 times to visit.
I think Independece can be a gold mine for LDS tourists.
When I have retured, I find that Independence has been seeking the "Truman" tourist.(Most of them are dead, WWII)
Almost all of your tourist today are in Min-vans with Utah plates. Once we have seen the LDS sites and visitors center and the Community of Christ buildings, off we go because there is no where to spend good "Mormon money."
