buckner also is also due for ANOTHER million in 2010-2100 season even if he is waived. any ideas helping portland at all better be off the table. why help a rival that just went after one of our players? get assets first and make payroll reducing moves as a secondary consideration or down the road the Jazz will regret that they didn't get something back for all the trouble Boozer has caused.

The Jazz

at now a 81 million in salary. The have 19+ million in Boozer and Harp to work with.

If they want to get under the 70 Million lux tax level they still have 7+ million to use on a back up PF and a shooting/defending SG. They also could trade CJ or Korver for an upgrade.

If they want to contend instead of pretend they can pay the tax and get the players they really need.

There is no hurry. Boozer can sit on the bench in his suit where he can't get hurt. The Jazz played much of last year without him.

The Jazz just need to wait for the right fire sale and get the PF of the future (not Millsap) for cheap. They also need a upgrade at SG/SF.

This is all very workable over the next few months or in 2010 FA.

CJ3

He'll be headed to London and Madrid before too long, with the team.

$15 mill to the the kitty...the Jazz have so far done everything they've said they would, and paying up to 15 in luxury tax is something they have said they are willing to do, to stay relevant in the upcoming season.

Considering Boozer's history I cannot imagine why any team would pay big money for him. Has he played in as many games as he has missed as a Jazz member? I can see a team wanting him for his offensive capabilities but I can't see paying him star status money for it. He just doesn't qualify as a star.

Shaybo

If the Jazz have any hope of improving from last year now they need to get equal value for Boozer, not do some 3 way deal to save money. How about package Boozer and a draft pick for Salmon and Thomas. (not the New York pick though)

PurplePeopleEater

Won't the Jazz be in good shape NEXT year when Boozer's current deal expires? And won't the Jazz have a chance for a high draft pick from the Knicks next year?

I don't see a downside to keeping Boozer around if they can't get a long-term worthwhile deal for him.

Just don't let him go to the Knicks, thus possibly keeping them out of the bottom and affecting the Jazz' lottery chances.

TheHailstorm

It's too bad we can't just dump him and move on. It's not going to be anything more than a bad soap opera if we have to set on the nest with him and hope something will hatch.
It seems as though other teams are beginning to see him in a more realistic light and no one is beating the door down to get him. He may have just out boozed himself.

Miles

No one wants Boozer. He has no choice but to play hard if he stays in Utah. He thinks (no one else does) that he is going to get this huge contract next year. Boozer will be lucky to find a team that wants him. He is injury proned, all about the money, no defense and overpriced. We need him worse than anyone does. Millsap is not even close to the answer for next year.

goutes

shaybo- i agree and maybe get hinrich too or a contract like jerome james

i got a crazy idea

jazz get: david lee
al harrington
eddy curry
cuttino mobley or larry hughes
maybe jordan hill

knicks get:eric maynor
carlos boozer
kyle korver
matt harpring
cj miles
there 1st round pick and future second round pick

Miles

@goutes: I didn't know the knicks had such great players. Thanks for filling me in on that one!!

Chad

Keep Boozer! We will not get equal value so let go of that idea all you well wishers. It will not happen.

He'll play hard this year and possibly even injured to prove he desreves a big contract. Milsap will continue to develop and PF will be our strongest position. With Boozer, Harpring, Korver, contracts expiring next year and the knicks lottery pick we can get the PF of the future or upgarde the C position. Personally I like a big center, moving Okur to PF with Misap as backup. Ronnie has done well at SG. PG not a concern at all. SF may be our wekest position after C.

Keeping Milsap was good. A 16/10 guy when starting is worth 7 mil in the NBA. Haslom would be better in Sloans offense than guard centric Miami.

IF

If Lamar Odom leaves the Lakers then the West is wide open in terms of who could contend.

Bynum is still a bonehead and makes as many or more boneheaded fouls as Fesenko does.

If the Lakers lose Odom they will be substantially weaker not to mention Derek Fisher is one year older and slower and Arizas dagger 3 point shooting is gone.

Sure they have Artest but we have matched up against him fairly well in the past and he takes alot of DUMB shots and is nowhere near the 3 point threat Ariza was.

Big losses for the Lake show.

todd from santa ana

AH Lamar Odom, sure would have been a good buy for us would he not?

Of course going to the competitor

Riley wants him back, no one wants Snoozer

Translation: 2009-2010 Jazz Roster
Actually rewind to 2008-2009 Roster

RE: goutes

Glad you're not in charge :)

Not Knicks

No reason to help the Knicks in any way...we have their unprotected draft pick next year. We want them to tank all the way.

bob

so what lets trade ak and boozer for amare and jrich come on geez

Who cares where Boozer is going? The important thing is who the Jazz get for him.

bddefense

Keep him. The Jazz won't get value and will get stuck with some lame contract ... and Booze will be playing his butt off wanting a big payday as a free agent.

This year, pay the tax, and plan on having a great year. Figure out who your centers are going to be, hope to get a top draft pick via Knicks.

Then plan on DWill with a Memo/Millsap power forward combo and fill in players around that core. Hope AK has a couple of career years, and you might have a chance.

Boozer's. . .

. . . not even a $14 player in my book. Problem is that his value has dropped like a rock because of his injury-prone past. Now the Jazz are stuck with an expiring contract that has little or no value in the eyes of the other GMs around the league. So sad, too bad, but he's the Old Maid card now.

Can't wait to hear. . .

. . . the words come out of Boozer's mouth when he has to eat his words one more time when no one is interested at the numbers he's holding out for ($14 million??? -- good luck with that big guy, when everyone knows you can't stay healthy.

Here's the preview of what's coming next: "I've always said I love here in Utah, and I know I made the right decision by opting in for this season. I know we can make a run at a championship with this team, and I'm going to be the cornerstone of making that happen. I'm so glad I won't be traded now."

GEEZ.
