Yawn!

Call me crazy, but I think based on this season's performance Mathis deserves an All-Star nod before either Morales or Beckerman; but I understand why MLS would add these 2 over Mathis.
East vs West | 12:40 p.m. July 15, 2009
Mathis will make the list of players with All Star $$$ but not on the team like Javi did last year. With 18 teams coming into the league, it might be time to go back to East vs West.

It should have been Clint and Kyle. But then again Javi should have made it last year. I'm glad they selected some REAL players. I wonder why Olave is never in the discussion? Is it the red cards?
Who cares? | 1:03 p.m. July 15, 2009
Who really cares to see the MLS all-stars vs. an English premier club? I'd rather see MLS east vs. West or MLS all-stars vs. a Mexican Premier/English Premier/Spanish Premier All-star team.

Every team has their good and bad players, but having all the best of one league vs. one team shows how weak the MLS is. they can't get or they wont get another league's all-star team, just one of their teams.

At least some home town boys! I can get excited about that.
Go RSL | 1:14 p.m. July 15, 2009
Should be Clint Mathis over Javi
Clint | 1:49 p.m. July 15, 2009
Probably deserves the nod ahead of Beckerman...
STEVE-O | 2:23 p.m. July 15, 2009
I'm an RSL fan and I honestly don't think any REal players really deserved an all-star spot. But when the game is being played in Utah the MLS probably feels like it's a smart thing to do.

re: who cares?
If you have followed the league the East/West games were a joke. This format is much more fun to watch. The reason they do not get another league all star team to play against is because other leagues don't have all star teams.

..I called it. Javi and Kyle show.
Wait a minute | 4:11 p.m. July 15, 2009
I know how to run around and kick a ball too without touching it with my hands. Does that mean I'm a soccer all-star too?
@ Who cares? | 4:40 p.m. July 15, 2009
Actually, the MLS isn't as weak of a league as you are indicating. The MLS All-Stars have pounded all of the English Premier League teams they have played. It's not uncommon for 3-0 or 2-0 games in favor of the MLS in these games.

I know you're saying the team of all All-stars SHOULD win these games, but keep in mind this will be the only time that the MLS all-stars play together; whereas Everton is very familiar with each other.

These victories give the MLS some credibility as a league.

Guarantee you've never scored! Especially if this is your form of entertaining yourself...

Exciting news. I am going to be putting Morales on the back of my All-Star jersey (if the front office would get off their lazy butts and get them to the fans).
players | 5:32 p.m. July 15, 2009
I'm glad they are on the team. I agree with the Clint comments, but in honesty no one on Real's team would have made it without the commissioner lending a hand because of where the game is being played.

Remember... we don't have all-stars. The Team is the star!!! (it makes me sicker and sicker the more I think about the slogan.. why would a fan want a big name around?)

great job boyz! Congrats
Chelsea | 6:30 p.m. July 15, 2009
A few years ago the MLS all-stars played Chelsea. Chelsea is an all-star team. They basically go around to other leagues and offer huge sums of money to come play for them. They (as well as Man U and Real Madrid) are a global all-star team.
Yawn is right..... | 12:11 a.m. July 16, 2009
Who cares. soccer is not an american sport and will never be popular in this country.
Can we please get an MLB or NFL team in this state so we have some good sports to talk about.
MLS is as boring as the WNBA is to watch.
nerves | 7:47 a.m. July 16, 2009
I'm not going to go as far as to say the premiership teams throw the game, but we do catch them very early in pre-season when they are still very unfit, and the other team understands that their role in the game is to make the all-stars look good. I think our teams could compete in the premiership, but if a team like Chelsea were truly interested in winning the all-star game, our guys would have to put together a great effort to actually win.
I do like this format much better than an East v West format though. Personally I think an all star game isn't needed in any sport. Watch a bunch of guys go out and play a no-defense scrimmage, big woop.
Cam | 7:48 a.m. July 16, 2009
I knew there'd be one RSL player selected. Two is great though. Cant wait to go to the game!
Congratulations! | 9:45 a.m. July 16, 2009
Good job fellas. We'll cheer your on.
Mathis? | 9:49 a.m. July 16, 2009
please people he is soo over rated. Is this like the mathis party? Majority of rsl fans would say that morales and beckerman are better than mathis.. It's a good choice in my opinion mathis is so boring to watch! He is slow old and a whiner! I would take andy williams on the all star team over clint mathis
Yawn is right | 9:56 a.m. July 16, 2009
You call soccer boring but you are sitting on a computer at your house between halo games commenting and whining on rsl's forum about how much you hate soccer. Sounds to me like someone's a little bit boring themselves.. They say the people most like you bother you the most
sweet  | 10:03 a.m. July 16, 2009
That was unexpected.. But definitely a good move by Don Garber, I wasn't planning on going but now i'm taking work off and throwin on my kfc bucket!
a long shot | 10:09 a.m. July 16, 2009
mathis was a long shot to make the all star team and beckerman/morales was an even longer shot. It took a freebie for these guys to get in but i'm glad they did
To Soccer haters | 12:47 p.m. July 16, 2009
Yawn? This is real football, not that boring American football. Soccer is the most popular sport in the world. More people watch the World Cup than any sporting event. Soccer fans are passionate......

.....wait. I just woke up from a nightmare.

I was dreaming I was a loser soccer fan and I was even defending soccer. That was scary!!

Thanks for commenting on this board, you make it possible for more coverage of soccer. I don't know if you idiots have noticed when RSL was first in the league there wasn't much coverage, but the more comments made the more coverage they get, so thanks for allowing me to be able to read artciles about soccer.
here is an idea | 1:59 p.m. July 16, 2009
soccer haters get a life...
just putting it out there

RE: reply 12:47 | 1:52 p.m. July 16, 2009

Soccer haters love to jump on here and make you losers mad by posting comments about orange slices, Capri-Sun, not using your hands or soccer not being a sport. Add that to the fact that you guys are also the same losers who fight with foam swords and cardboard shields, and if you are old enough you played D&D and if you are younger you play WW.

Look... I am sorry that you could not play real sports like football, baseball and basketball and I know it was tough to be the last one picked at recess for any games... but get a clue!!!!

Do you honestly think that anyone from the NAC or any media person for that matter, gets on to the comment board and says... "Hey look we have 30 comments on a soccer story, we better print more articles?"

IF you do, and it sounds like you are delusional enough to think so, leave your info... I have some great real estate ventures you might be interested in.

re: HUH? | 8:34 p.m. July 16, 2009
And yet, you still comment on the article, which means you read it, which means more will follow.
RSL has a large following, certainly larger than the SL Bees, one of your "real" sports teams in Utah.
You clearly have not left the country to experience anything outside of your basement apartment, where soccer is king.
Many adults still play soccer in adult leagues, as well as indoor soccer. It's a great way to stay in shape and still play competitive sports.
If I wanted to be lazy, I'd play baseball....
Anyways, enough of the soccer haters...
Javi and Kyle: congrats fellas! Clint, I would've penciled you in. Your passing, field leadership, and hustle have been fun to watch this year...

To Huh? Wow, you must be wishing you could live the high school glory days again. Popularity contest is over unless you want to act like an immature high school jock who thought he was cool, but in reality everybody hated the self-confident jock. I played three sports in high school(Football, wrestling, soccer)and yes I started varsity in those sports, yet I am huge soccer fan. I played baseball, but had to choose between baseball and soccer, so I chose soccer. You get out on a field and play 90 minutes of non-stop soccer and tell me it isn't a real sport. And by the way, yes they do write more articles based on comments. It means they have a following. I hope you didn't go to college because if you did, you obviously didn't learn anything other than how to cheat. It is called supply and demand. You know, something to do with economics.

You crack me up. You got me, I live in a basement, I am lazy so I played baseball and no I didn't go to college. Please...if you only knew.

Confession Time!!

First off, myself or the countless other soccer haters, DO NOT read the articles. We simply find the latest one and jump on the comment board to see who takes the bait. You 2 are the latest catches. Congrats! LOL

Finally, do you to think that because there are more comments that the D-News will print more articles???? Answer before you read below.............

So far in July.

Bees articles 27
RSL articles 25

Guess what... there is not a SINGLE comment on the Bees articles, yet they have printed more. Supply & Demand? Seriously? You look pretty foolish now. You may want to jump on the phone to the D-news and let them know, so they can print more on soccer articles since there is a 'demand'. LOL
really? | 1:50 p.m. July 17, 2009
cool, you dont like soccer. Nobody asked if you did, nobody forced you to comment, nobody did anything of the sorts. Why do you feel the need to come on here and post "soccer is not a sport" and crap like that?

My other question, why does crap like this make it through the people that monitor these boards?
There is nothing of merit to this guys post(s) so why add them?
Hey chill loser | 1:02 p.m. July 20, 2009
RE: really? | 1:50 p.m. July 17, 2009

Soccer is NOT a sport. Anytime a player kills a fan, it can't be considered a sport. Nice.... Soccer is just an excuse to riot.
