Kinda makes it obvious why nature turns off fertility at a certain age. If you will die of natural causes before your children are grown, you have no business having children!

Very sad for the 2 kids, but I hope this is a lesson for other women. Sure a 25 year old mom could die tommorow unexpectedly, but there is probably a 90% chance a 66 year old mother will die within 18 years.

Gee, thank heavens she was able to have her dream come true. Unfortunately her dream has become someone elses problem. Hopefully these kids will find a good solid loving home.

The critics concerns over this pregnancy have been proven to be well-founded. This woman's deceit and selfishness has lead to the orphaning of two young toddlers. When individuals fail to consider the consequences of dishonesty and unconcern for others, tragedy is often the result.

Thats all the world needs are two more children without a mother. No telling what the genetic input of being born to a much older mother will affect their lives.

How sad for the children. I definitely think she was too old to have children, but it doesn't seem her age is what killed her,if she had a tumor. That could have happened to any mother. Hey, and Michael Jackson's children are probably going to be raised by their 79-year-old grandmother. Too bad she didn't get to experience the joy of raising her children

If she wanted to be a mother so bad, why didn't she try it a decade or two earlier so she could still be around to raise them?

Critics are very heard to please, but i would like to say this life should be always welcome.

I was appalled at the news of this five years ago. there is a reason why women of child bearing have kids when they are young. I think this mother should have adopted instead of giving birth. You can never tell when you die, just to rationalize your future is idoctic. I watched this mother being interviewed on Today show several months ago, and she had no controll over these children, they were moving around and she really looked frazzled. Now there are two motherless children who should have never been impreganated in the first place. I think the doctor who did this should be the one to raise these children. Your not God, doc! Just because you think you want children, doesn't mean you should. They are alot of work and responsibility. These kids are not destined for anything great, their old mother has left the earth.

This woman told the world that "everyone should become a mother at the right time for them." What about the right time for the children? They're 2 1/2 and left without a mother or any clear guardian, as she apparently didn't have time to "look for a younger man" to take care of them. The "right time" apparently wasn't 10-20 years after nature intended women to give birth - even 40-year-olds who give birth typically have more related health problems.

There are 2 serious ethical problems here: 1) forcing the female body to do something it is not supposed to be capable of at that age, and for good reason; 2) the woman is single. Speaking generally, children from single-parent families do not do as well in life in any way: kids need a mother and a father, period.

Do what's best for the children, not the selfish adults of our society, who want to do everything their way, at the time that's "right for them."

What gives you the right to preach and then judge this woman?
How do you know that these children won't turn out to be productive citizens?
I find it very disheartening to listen to your "all knowing" attitudes. It sounds to me like you want these children to fail just so you can prove your point, whatever that may be.

NOW we would need a nasty lawyer who could sue the fertility clinic for the boys... AMA should act and take their licenses away...

They had better not pass her kids off to be raised by the Spanish government.

She could have had children when she was younger. She just didn't. And if she was wise she would have made the proper arraignments in case anything happened to her. Isn't that why people write wills and have things such as god parents. Everyone should regardless of their age. It is called being responsible. One would think if you have lived to be 60 you would be a little wiser. This just confirms that she was very selfish. If the children were her first thought and it wasn't all about her she would have done the right thing and made the proper arrangements.
