yawn who cares!

No Its Just Football

"Anytime you put that 'Y' on your helmet and go out to play, you're representing the school. Not only the school, but the Church as well," Tyler said. "When we play football, we're not just playing football. We're trying to accomplish something much greater.

--------------------

What are you trying to do, preach while on the field? No??? And since your not overseas fighting a war then its only football. Just stick to playing football, off the field fine but on the field its only a game.

I wonder if Norther Dame players try to "accomplish something much greater" other then playing a game when they put on their helmets.

Kozlowski

I loved the fact that he was a rebel for BYU, I even enjoyed watching him play (although I'm not a BYU fan). The guy was like rubber when he made his catches, sounds like the rubber has turned to flubber but I wish him well.

"I don't think you can fully understand unless you actually play and see how hard that is to go undefeated,"

True, and Utah was good enough to do it twice in 5 years: 2004 and 2008.

Too bad that's no longer the criteria to win a national title otherwise Ball State was on the verge having one last year.

It's great to hear from you, Koz. You were my favorite player to watch on that unforgettable team. Go for it Tyler!

Just-be-"Koz"

Thanks for the story. Kozlowski was my favorite member of the football team while he was there. In third grade when we'd play tackle football at recess I was always #7, lined up wide. Seeing Tyler follow in his footsteps brought back fond memories of the Glory Days (round one) of McMahon, Bosco, Sikahema, Bellini, and Kozlowski.

I absolutely hate BYU football, but I always respected GK on the field. He was a fantastic player - maybe the most dangerous receiver in BYU history when he was healthy (on and off the field). I think that had he not been injured early in the following year, the Y had a legitimate shot of winning all of their games that year too.

Hope Glen reads thesse messages. I went BYU and knew Glen and David Mills. I knew him when he started to turn his life around. He was a very intense guy. We have lost touch over the years and it is great to hear he is doing so well. I enjoyed watching him play at BYU and for the Bears. I enjoy watching his son now and hope he keeps up the family tradition at BYU. Best of luck to you and your family Glen.

Cougar Fan

I remember the '84 season. I was a freshman at the Y that year. It was the most wonderful experience. I remember the talk about maybe playing in another bowl game other than the Holiday Bowl, but I'm glad we didn't. Michigan proved to be a tough enough opponent to win the national championship. They were better than their record. They only lost 1 game the next year, and we beat Washington the next year too. That just proves we were the #1 team in the country. Yoot fans will say we didn't deserve it, but we'll always have it.

We're #1, We're #1, We're #1, We're #1, We're #1, and U aren't.

We'll win another NC before Jake Heaps graduates, and U won't.

We won 2 of the last 3, and U didn't.

We are better than U. Rise and Shout the Cougars are out!

HA HA HA HA HA HA!

And Harline is still open!

the Koz

From the Koz past to the new Koz, Keep that talent coming Good luck in 09

koz who?

How old are these guys? Does anyone really remember 1984? You would have to at least be 35 years old to say you remember this. I hope I'm not still reading the DNews when I'm 35.

recalling Koz

I remember the Koz and the great 1984 season. I've always wondered what happend to GK and Julie after the Bears era. I'm so glad to hear about his family and I'm excited to watch Tyler. I also sent 4 sons on missions and I know the joy of that accomplishment. Good luck to the Koz family in the future.

Man,

I was about to write something nice about BYU until I read the BYU Fan comment.

Too bad there are lame fans on both teams.

Football is a fun sport to play and watch. And Tyler K is right when he says that he is representing the church as well. I wish the BYU fans were that aware.

Both teams represent our state and it would be nice if we both played with class and won.

It really is no wonder that ultimate fighting is so popular in provo. Bunch of silly wannabe tough guys. Nice job.

I am 83 yrs old and have been a BYU fan for eones due to the fact I've had 7 kids graduate there. 84 was a great year for BYU football. I remember being in Yelowstone Park and listening to the Y beat Pitt in the first game of the season and thought then maybe they could win it all and they did. I loved to watch Glen and the others play. Good luck Cougars...

BYU fan

No wonder Utah hates us. This is ridiculous and embarrassing.

You won't have time when you're 35, boy. With a degree from the U. you'll spend all your time pumping gas and washing windows to pay your trailer mortgage.

Thanks for the articles on members of the '84 team. I was in the Incomparable Cougar Marching Band and enjoyed the entire season. I'm glad to see that Koz is doing well. BYU is a great school and I love BYU football. Let's not let the rivalry with Utah get out of hand though. Life is bigger than the gridiron.

Despite blowing out his knee

twice his senior Koz was still considered one of the best wide receivers in college football history. At one time he caught passes in something like 37 consecutive games. He was a legit player and despite his knee injuries played in the NFL for eight seasons. I believe without those injuries he would have been one of the great ones in the pros. Can anyone remember the pass in 1984 he caught against Utah between three Utah defenders. I remember the Ute faithful all rising up because they were certain they had intercepted the ball only to find out that somehow, some way he ended up with it. Koz was a character and a great player and though he didn't make a great pro he was definitely one of the best college receivers of all time.

Re: Ute

My sentiments exactly.
A BYU fan.

MWC Fan

Unfortunately I've been reading these articles the past week... I have to say that I am thoroughly embarrassed for the cougars while these are being written. It's almost as if there's nothing better to say about BYU and their program at the moment. Sure, Utah is getting all the national hype with 2 BCS Busting Seasons in 5 years... But BYU coming out with these set of articles is ridiculous and humiliating. And to the cougar fan that wrote at 7:53am... Wow. If you were a freshman in '84 that would make you over 40 years old now... I am embarrassed for any 40 year old that still talks like he's arguing over a kickball game. National Championship? Have you been watching college football for the past 10 years? Mid-Majors don't make National Championships. Ridiculous comments today folks. Get some class.
