Comments about ‘Real Salt Lake: MLS announces First XI All-Stars’

....so coach Kreis....I'm ok with no Allstars on the team. "The team is the star"...blah blah, but maybe this philosphy isnt worth much when we are 4 point out of a playoff spot!

About now, I'm wishing we had a shiny star on our team.

Luckily fan votes only count as 1/4 of the entire vote for all-stars. If fans were 100%...or even 50%, the roster would have been entirely Seattle players. No offense...but that doesn't fly with me well.

No RSL player in the All-star game=no Chadders at the all-star game. How can we not have at least 1 friggin player?

After looking at who played on the All-Star team last year I am kind of disappointed with the selections for this years game. Keller and Donovan are great selections. I was hoping for some more well known names in MLS. Such as Ching, McBride, Hejduk, Wolff, Conrad, Blanco, and maybe even at least one selection from RSL. I do hope the last few selections are better than many of the first XI?
I'm still going to go but am kind of disappointed with the majority of the team so far.

Who should the other players be?

I think you have to take Freddy Montero from Seattle. He has 9 goals and 6 assists so far.

I think you throw in a RSL player. I would go with Beckerman since you need a few more midfielders

Only 3 defenders picked so far so I go with Frank Heiduk of Columbus.

Then you need some glamour on the team. McBride is the best bet for a well known player who is actually playing well. Then maybe throw in another well known American player such as Ching.

First of all this was just the first XI, so there are still 7 more players that are going to be selected, with one of those players being an RSL player (pretty much a sure thing).
Second, those who wish there were more big name players on the roster make me sick. You guys don't even care about results on the field, only big players to see. The all star game is about rewarding players who are doing good this year, not the biggest names in the game. I am glad players are getting considered who are having great years, but who are not necessarily huge players.

I'm just guessing here, but i'm guessing we're going to see Mathis and Beckham.

Beckham
McBride
Blanco
Ching
Freddy M
Huckerby

YES! And it is money that is going into the RSL coffer and also money from taxes to help pay for the needs of the great state of Utah. I love Utah, I love RSL!

There are 7 spots left, well 8 if you cant the spot that Dero currently fills (he will be gone with TFC to a cup game that day).

Nagamura/Kljestan

Quaranta
Mathis/Beckerman

Nagamura and Kljestan is a toss up, same with Mathis and Beckerman. It all depends on how Kinear and the comish see things (well obviously)

I'm sad to say.....

I doubt the comish has the huevos NOT to include Beckham.

His star power is too large not to have him.

If RSL is shut out, I'm cheering for Everton.

Wake up bro. Were not getting the all-star game again anytime soon, so of course the majority of us want to see big name talent all in one place at the same time. We want the stars of the league. That is a joke. I'm glad you're intent on seeing Holden and Marshall when we could watch Clark and Hejduk. Let me guess you don't care who the USMNT will choose when they come in September either and would rather watch their current B squad that is playing in the Gold Cup b/c they are "having a great go of it in the MLS" You have the only comment that thinks we should be stuck with a 2nd rate team playing Everton. That'll be fun?

I hope its not me. I am pumped to see how our biggest names stack up against a solid EPL team.

I'm not a huge Conor Casey fan, and would rather see Freddy Montero upfront with Donovan, and maybe McBride as our point man.

Beckham is a no brainer. The guy just finished playing for AC Milan and is on the English national team and people think he doesn't deserve an MLS allstar spot. Also, he is a big TV ratings and fan draw. I want Beckham in the All Star game and I hate the LA Galaxy. He will make the game more interesting and he will help them win.

I hope we can get another thrilling 1-1 tie!

I don't speak spanish but it seemed to me that in the game against Club America they were advertising in spanish to get a discount on the All Star tickets so they could come and see Blanco. He is not yet even on the team! Am I mistaken with what they were doing? Honest question.

If the spanish that I can understand is right, they advertised a package that they're offering that includes the allstar game as well as a ticket to a chicago fire game "to see Blanco" and I think there was another game in the pack as well. Turns out Blanco will take DeRo's spot, so he'll be there anyway.
