More to Come

East side: This is a preview of more to come. This is what happens when you hire a first-time superintendent who answers to a clueless school board who hires incompentent staff.

Surprised

I'm surprised this newspaper even ran this story. You are usually an extension of the Canyons' P.R. Team.

Sandy Man

I am amazed at how inept and amateurish this school dist is right now. It matches a new police dept in the district. Be careful they'll next lose some of our children and blame it on the Jordan Dist.

Other stories say that this happened last Wednesday and it took 2 days to start notifying employees. Why? Especially since the Superintendent is a lawyer, an educational law lawyer, but still a lawyer. He, above all others, should understand how time consuming it is for people to protect their identity.

It took 2 days to mail a letter and 5 days to do a press release about it. Why are they paying over $100,000 for a PR person, if they don't use the media when they have a potential 6000 people with credit problems the district caused. These are people who are trusting the District Office with their jobs and identity information and the DO treats them with 2 days of not knowing where the information went! You can be sure that the DO personnel knew of the missing information right away and were able to take care of protecting their identities. Too bad employees are not treated any better by the "smaller and better communicating" Canyons District.

Educrat

I want to know if this breach included records of JUST Canyons employees? If not, how far back do these records go? I quit JSD four years ago escaping to Charter Schools. How far back do these records go?

If my information has been compromised by the Canyons District, they will be held liable for all ensuing damages and costs. It behooves them to release how far back these records go to limit the damage potential and their liability in this issue (after all I am one of MANY that may have been effected by this). I also want a thourough review of their policies regarding confidential material, and a audit of all their policies and procedures. They had a FULL year to get their acts together. By putting their heads in the sand they have really endangered a whole lot of people.

Ladies and Gentlemen

I present to you, the more responsive and employee friendly district. What a comfort to think that all of our personal information is contained on a key ring.

Everyone's an Expert

Anonymous-
You showed everyone how a bit of information tends to make everyone an instant expert. You shouldn't speak without knowing the truth. The press certainly isn't going to give you all the details. Everyone knows that, silly. The employees were notified the minute this happened. Dr. Doty has everything under control. Who said the employees are treated poorly? You are misinformed. This is a happy, team-oriented community and there is no reason to believe otherwise. Take a chill-pill and relax.

T G I Left

I just quit working at a Canyons District school - I want to get out of this insanity. One poster asked why it took so long for them to start notifying us of their screw up - HELLO!! They were so busy protecting their corporate butts first - they don't give a gnat's rear end about the teachers - they never have and they never will. Well, they still haven't notified me - this article is the first I've heard of it. Like "educrat," I will sue the pants off old deep-pockets Canyons District if there are any consequences to my data being lost. At least when the UofU lost the info, they immediately paid for everyone whose info was on those tapes to work with the credit bureaus to put a watch, etc, on their credit. Not Canyons - they use snail mail to eventually let the employees know they screwed up, or, as in my case, let us read about it in the press. Way to go Canyons. Have fun filling my slot. My heart goes out to the poor dumb schmuck who fills it, though.

Hmm

If that little district has 6.000 employees, how many does the larger Jordan have. Talk abut duplication of services -- to say nothing of the exorbitant administrator salaries. Oh well, you get what you pay for, I guess. Have fund east side.

Mistakes

That's what happens when you hire your crony friends instead of qualified employees.

One mistake after another...

Say What

How is this PR girl qualified? Big deal she was a writer for the D-News.

100K a year and teachers with years of hard work are forced to take a pay cut!!

Say What!!!

A CSD teacher

Why didn't the Chief Information Officer have an encryption policy in use for a transportable storage devices? I am but a mere teacher but in this day and age I know you have to have such a policy in place on being used from day one. Especially when so many sensitive documents are being transferred from one district to another. Is there one in place and about that administrative leave?? How about reassigned or leave?
