I've been to Eagle Mountain twicw and know some members there. I must say that from the people I know there it made me think that this is what a modern day Zarahemla in Samuels time would be like. Maybe they are just too insulated there and don't have as many missionary opportunities as we have here where the number of non members in our neighborhoods are great. It was very disheartening to see this.

I live in the Ranches, and while the population is mostly LDS there are quite a few non LDS folks as well, which is quite refreshing. I'm not sure where Observation 8:01 is currently living but the "spiritual" makeup of Eagle Mountain is really quite typical of Utah County with 85%+ of the population being LDS. Even though I'm LDS, I'm hoping for more non-LDS people to move into Utah County and create much more needed religious diversity.
Need for diversity??? | 11:04 a.m. July 13, 2009
How does any need for diversity play into the State's bad decision to allow another well to be dropped out there???

Also, have you thought that people come to Utah to be near those with similar beliefs? If you want diversity then go somewhere diverse, don't water down the good thing we've got.

The state approves well throughout Utah every year. In fact, there is much more sub-surface water than surface water available in the state and without subsurface water, more than half of the Wasatch Front population would need to move immediately. In fact, throughout the world, subsurface water accounts for the vast majority of the worlds fresh water resources, while surface water accounts for a very small percentage. In other words, there is much more water underneath Utah than what is stored in reservoirs, and nearly every city in Utah has many water wells. Without these wells, life would be very different in our state.

If you own the water rights, then the state just gives approval to tap into those rights. Provo City for instance has over 12 wells. I'm not sure why you think the state made a bad decision to drop another well in Eagle Mountain, or are you the usual Eagle Mountain basher who finds any excuse to disparage that community. I think that "The Need for Diversity" was responding to the comment made my Observation. Perhaps you need to learn to read the entire thread rather than just part of it.
