wow. Great game. Surprising result. Way to go RSL!

I love this result! First of all, it's ridiculous to let Rio Tinto fill up with the opposition's fans. And fantastic that RSL played with confidence despite that. Second, this isn't just any club that RSL knocked off, it's "the" club in Mexico. Well done RSL! Very, very well done!

Great game. Real's midfield and defense held them really well. Not a bad result for RSL's first away game in their own stadium.

RSL Ulty fan

Great victory, but we got to remember Club America is in pre-season and didn't put on its best effort, but still a good victory.

Good job. Good win see where it leads. Meanwhile, Real has huge issues now 4 points out of playoffs, thanks to My Galaxy 3rd straight 1-0 win, and now uncle Beckham is here!!

I should thank you guys for waking us up because we have not lost since....

Ozzaguila

good game but Club America's is in pre-season and came from a really hard physical training and this was their second game after that, so, this was not the real america u'll see, also few of their players r playing the gold cup, so that victory it doesn't mean anything, also what a nice stadium full of yellow and blue, good way to learn RSL fans

A fan

Nice to see them win an exhibition game.

Andrew

Good to see us win without a bunch of our regulars (Rimando, Beckerman, Johnson, Williams). Good work guys!

You can say anything that America was in preseason, that some players are with the national team, but the people fill the stadium and their players did not show, Real won the game in every play, America try but couldn't They were lucky, it could be 3-0.
It was good to see again what Espy and Javi can do playing together. I hope JK plays Espindola at Center forward, not in the left wing, he will respond with more goals like last year.
America thought was going to be a parade, same big mistake that Real had with San Jose twice this year.

What a weekend it has been fellow RSL fanaticals!!! Yes team America (this name make no sense to me) you have many fan....many flag and jersey. But on this day you not have same heart, same will or same skill to reign victorious like mighty RSL!!!! At some time, I feel like it just me and mighty Rio Tinto against entire fan base of T.A., but I continue to chant, scream and will our beautiful team to victory! How about this Javi, is he not great? What a goal....what was keeper doing? Maybe texting girlfriend because he didn't give Javi respect he deserve. Whether friendly or league game, you know I will be there with my cleats, shinguards, flag of Ireland, keeper gloves, adidas headband, flare, full RSL player uniform and new book by USA soccer star Landon Donovan. We must not worry about Grandpa Beckham RSL fans, much like his game, he will stay in our rear view mirror. Ha. My flight to Columbus Ohio leaves Friday night, will you be there RSL fanatics? Find me there, we will cheer this team to continued success!!! GOOOOOOOOOOO RSL, GOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOO all the way!

Chris

I wish the RSL front office would not keep catering to the unruly behavior of fans of Mexican club teams. And on another note did anyone else see the absolutely despicable display of the Mexican coach, players and fans in Houston during the Panama/Mexico gold cup match on Thursday night. Throwing stuff out onto the pitch, fights in the seats. I wish that the USSF and other club teams in the states would quit catering to this ridiculous no rules behavior ban these clubs from playing "friendlies". This behavior should not be tolerated. It was sickening to see the disrespect a few Club America fans gave the event staff, security and RSL fans. Also the behavior and fouling that took place by Pardo and a few other players shouldn't come as a surprise b/c that is what they are being taught at the national team level. On another note great result for RSL! Morales did circles around club america all night! Great results guys! Viva Real Salt Lake!

RSL administration is trying to fill seats. If asking popular mexican teams to come is the way to do it, so be it. Honestly, I don't think they care if they are "unruly," they just want to sell some tickets.

three11stu

I don't know how the mexican fans were being unruly. Just because they like to jump up and down and cheer for their team instead of sitting on their hands and only cheering for goals like most of the RSL fans do.
Sorry they were bothering you Chris, and made it so you couldn't see as you sat down the whole game.

Team America

So Real beat a team of marionettes inspired by the creators of South Park? Don't get too carried away.

MLS > Mexican League

Thats what I took away from this game.

RSL, a lower MLS side, just beat America, a higher Mexican Team.

Good news, the level in the states is improving.

Re: three11stu

For your information I have not missed a single home game this season. Never once did I say "Oh please sit down b/c I can't see" I for one am all for a great soccer atmosphere. I attended a Copa Del Rey Semifinal in the Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona when they played their city rivals Espaynol. That is an intense atmosphere! I have also attended 2 world cup qualifiers and multiple gold cup matches where the USMNT was clearly the visiting team. So I have seen this atmosphere many times. I was solely pointing out that the Club America's fans where I was at were throwing trash into our section and weren't cooperating with security and event staff when asked. Take a chill man! I know that I don't post on Behind the shield like you have but I still am a big time supporter of RSL and frequent that blog often! Let's hope out of this game we gained more RSL support! Now let's move on and beat the Crew on Saturday!

RSL fan

I love soccer fans that chant and clap throughout the whole game, it makes the games much more entertaining. Don't believe me? If you were at the playoff game last year against NY, you would have experienced a great crowd that made the game very exciting. RSL lost, but the crowd was great and the team put in a strong effort. Bring on the noisy crowds, it should be that way.

Noise vs. Disrespect

I love it that there was a lot of noise at the game, but the thing that bothered me was how bad their fans were during the anthem. Our fans showed respect during their anthem while their fans were screaming and beating their drums trying to be as loud and obnoxious as possible during our national anthem. Classless=Mexican soccer fans.
