My own containers in Utah require constant checking on for drying out. I had lots of snails this year and lost some petunias and peppers. Clever little creatures are good climbers. But snails are unusual because this spring was so rainy.

This is a beautiful garden. This year I invested in "hanging pots" of flowers, which have done very well, and square foot gardening.
I acquired a few of these made from vinyl fencing and they are doing very well bug free. I even planted tomatoes in one of them.
No weeding, just watering. That really helps me because I have arthritis so its a mostly no-maintenance gardening, and was blessed with no snails either.
