Comments about ‘Lawmaker says CIA director ended secret program’

So, now CIA Director is now admitting Congress was told lies during the Bush Administration.

What is Limbaugh/Hannity/Beck saying about this?

"CIA Director Leon Panetta has terminated a "very serious" covert program the spy agency kept secret from Congress for eight years, Rep. Jan Schakowsky, a House Intelligence subcommittee chairwoman, said Friday."

This isn't what the largest Media organization in America, said. Fox News made Pelosi out to look like a liars for saying this same thing.

Just as memories of the Bush/Cheney (fiasco of follies) legacy begins to fade here comes another red herring. As much as Obama does not want to deal with the previous administrations unethical conduct, the secrets and lies keep on surfacing. It's time for the Dems to do a real investigation about the Texas nightmare that doesn't go away.

Nice twist on the truth. This wasn't even a program that was ever adopted. Several Democrats wrote a letter to Panetta, claiming he acknowledged, in a confidential meeting, CIA officials misleading Congress. They didn't use Congress' official letterhead, so are they trying to make an unofficial, or even unauthorized statement? Are they still trying to nail Bush when they also made mistakes? Are they trying to protect Pelosi for her own ignorance or incompetence? This just reaks of politics and dishonesty. Why are members of Congress discussing things said in a confidential meeting? And why have more people involved in such meetings and increase the potential for loose lips or politics to come in to play?

How about a nonpartisan investigation so that unethical Democrats don't get off either? If you want to discuss ethics problems, don't leave out the Democrats. There were Democrats who supported many of the now-unpopular national security activities. The "we-were-misled" argument only flies for so long before looking stupid or incompetent because they believed. The "we-didn't-know" excuse also looks bad because it makes them look ignorant or again incompetent for not doing a good job or having somebody else attend briefings.

How about this as the real nightmare: our representatives and senators only care about covering their rear ends when something bad happens, or taking revenge on someone now out of office, thus endangering our nation's security. I'm tired of the "it's the previous administration's fault." Were members of Congress not in office during the previous 8 years? Did they not do anything at all while Bush was president? Again that points to ineptness and incompetence on their part. It wasn't a one-man show. Congress was involved.
