"Shh! I'm watching my kids" is exactly right. That is basic water safety. Someone in charge must be watching swimmers, especially kids, EVERY MOMENT.

Most of this story was valuable, but they could return the fee the agency that made the startling discovery that there is an 89% increase in drowning in the summer. Wow. The only reason it's not 99% is southern states, hotel swimming pools, and bathtubs.

And then, drowning in "a teaspoon to two inches of water"? Whatever. Next they'll say a mL. Then a tenth of mL. I mean, I know they want to emphasize that it doesn't take a big pool, but let's me reasonable.

That, and it sounds like three inches of water is fine. It's just from a teaspoon to two inches.

I too was enamored by this brilliant headline. Sounds like breaking news ... no wait a top story! The public needs to know that drowning increases in summer months.

I'll bet snow skiing/boarding accidents go way down in summer months too, but where's the story on that?

regarless of how stupid the headline is...it is good advice to WATCH YOU KIDS WHEN THEY ARE SWIMMING OR AROUND BODIES OF WATER.!!!!! Especially if they are not able to swim. LUCKY LITTLE GIRL. I am very glad I am reading a story about her and not an obituary notice.

No matter what, or how safe you may think your kids are, it's up TO YOU to watch them. I almost drowned at age 4 and have had a fear of water ever since.
