You're correct, we must move on. Somehow the "media" just never seems to grasp the fact it is what it is. I've never understood all the "hype" and never will.
One thing I will say I've learned from all of this, as Americans are priorities are severely messed up!!

Don't like it? Stop watching.

Eric started to touch on the real problem. The media are only giving us what we want, thankfully we excluding me. As a society we want this garbage, and that's the problem.

So here are the Freedom guys again, saying "Let us do what WE want, but be sure to forbid what someone ELSE is doing. Which things? We'll tell you, day by day." Chuck says it so clearly, doesn't he?

Real news doesn't sell. Tabloid stuff does. You want a free market system, you want to snuff the Fairness Doctrine, this is what you get. Watch Leno's Jay-Walking segment, and you'll see what I mean. People are just plain dumb and uninformed.

Like it or not people we are living in babylon! I cant even have a normal conversation with my teenage family members without them talking about this movie or that tv show. Get out and live in nature or use your talents in the arts to entertain yourself, dont be another brick in the tower of babel!

I love my remote. I can change the channel or turn off the Tv without getting off my butt.

It's NOT about what the people want, it's about what makes the media money.

I couldn't believe it when the House had a minute's silence to "honor" Michael Jackson. That's what we give for ALL who have collectively died in all the nations' battles once a year.

There are trivial people; the rest of us (not just a few) are disgusted with the failure of the media to keep us abreast the news. I don't turn off, I change the channel to a more serious one, and one that is not loaded with adverts.

If all I want to think about is the weather, the traffic, furry animals, entertainers, the latest fad diet, the latest drug, political subterfuge, propaganda, and weird celebrities, then I can tune into the major networks for my news. The same goes for inane, amoral sitcoms and mindless TV talk shows and shock shows.

We want this stuff. The media aren't making money without our permission, which we tacitly give when we watch this stuff. Several local channels feature one or another 'entertainment news' show for half an hour or more per day. It's crap, I know it's crap, but it's not going to be replaced with a half hour of political debate or investigative journalism because this garbage is what most people will watch.
