For some reason, after reading this article, that doesn't surprise me.
It also doesn't surprise me that the Hoover Institute receives some of its funding from a group that very much wants people to not accept global warming--ExxonMobile.
Just like cigarette companies wanted people to think that there was a scientific debate about whether cigarettes were bad for you or not, certain groups today want people to believe that pollution, including giving our atmosphere more CO2 than it has ever had in human history, is not a problem. If they can convince enough people, they can keep raking in the dough. And that, ultimately, is all they care about.
For some reason, after reading this article, that doesn't surprise me.

A few temperature measurements at a few individual locations are not even
relevant. It's like deciding on the height of a mountain based on the size
of one rock.
Where is all the temperatures for the last 100 years every day everywhere with standard deviation? Then you can tell me there is no trend w/r to the noise from a few measurements at a few locations.

Hardly any scientist studies global warming theory. Why should a consensus among
"scientists", unless they are objectively studying relevant branches
of science such as meterorology etc matter, even if a comprehensive poll were

If I understand correctly, only 4% of the CO2 is man-made. We in the US consume a large share of the world's energy, but even if we create 1/4 of all the man-caused CO2, that's only 1% of the total CO2. What is BO's cap and trade (AKA tax and job-kill) going to do about the other 99%?

Zealand because their island is no longer inhabitable due to rising sea levels.
Tell it to the residents of Alaskan coastal villages whose land is literraly
disappearing under their feet as the permafrost melts. We could go on and on,

What a great article. Articulate and to the point. Global warming is indeed a
farce, but sadly, it, like the BCS, is driven by money, not a desire for truth

Historically, going back billions of years - the earth has had ice caps only 10% of the time. That means the other 90% of the time the earth has no ice caps, no polar ice, no snow to ski on - nothing. On the long trend the earth is in its coldest time right now.
Not going back so far it was much warmer 600 years ago than it was during the 1930's or with Dr Hansen's cooked numbers out of NASA.
Satellite readings show that upper atmospheric temps have NOT risen over the past decades. This is key since the whole global warming scare is about CO2 trapping in the suns rays and cooking the earth like a convection oven. In order for that to happen the upper atmosphere must be warming. It is not.

Oh, the big guys promoting this farce is actually calling it "Climate
Change". That way in another 20 years when they realize the CO2 is actually
causing the earth to cool down, they can scream "the earth is cooling"
and still label it under the same package.

Without doubt, this is a biased piece, just like there are liberals who slant

But in a true effort to find common ground, isn't it prudent for us, as a people, to take steps towards preserving our resources and cleaning up lakes, rivers, etc...? So many republicans on this post talk about how much money is made w/ respect to 'going green' so isn't that a growing part of the economy that begs our attention?
With all the money to be made and the overwhelming support from people and companies (even Chevron tries to pass itself off as environmentally friendly these days) the only explanation for not going green and pursuing this indulgent pecuniary avenue is purely political posturing by republicans who just stick their heels in the sand b/c liberals advocate the act, is it not?

I am a Republican and politically active. I love technology and the idea of going green for the sake of the economy and I am currently in the process of buying solar for my home. It makes economic sense to save and conserve. I just refuse to take on the name of "climate change" while I do it. snowstorm in 80 years. Farmers have been unable to plant in the upper Midwest

Obama himself smokes... Yet Obama has proposed banning smoking for those in the military...? (obviously just the first step which will eventually be expanded as opportunity presents itself).
So evidently it doesn't even matter whether he believes in it or not. Somehow he's special and He can do one thing himself and impose OTHER rules on the rest of us, and evidently he's OK with that.

But that doesn't matter... because it's NOT important that THEY believe their own theory... what's important is taking advantage of this crisis and using it to expand the control of government over our lives while they can. While people are actually BEGGING them to do it. I'm not Captain Kirk but it looks like your post actually confirmed that
this is just talk of a perceived "threat" and of a "constant
fear" of this perceived threat, not an actual vacating of Tuvalu in
response to actually sinking or submerged islands.
It seems that the PM of Tuvalu, like so many other people, believes that climate change is "real and serious". Yet that doesn't present any proof of a real problem and leaves the debate hanging.

I did what most conservative can't seem to do. I checked the source. A guy
working as a economist for EPA and who has never done climate research
isn't an authority on climate. Climate scientist have debunked his 98 page
rehash of antiquated studies using old data that newer methodology disputes. The
fact; he works for a: excuse the oxymoron here, a conservative think tank that
gets funding from Exxon also makes him suspect.
A rule of thumb. Reputable science don't go on the Rush Limbaugh, Hanity or Glen Beck shows. These shows cater to the religion of conservatism.

Why is it that the liberals that push for global warming say it is a fact that
we are causing it, but provide not facts to support their argument? Only
pictures of ice melting etc. Yes, temperatures are changing BOTH slightly
higher and lower in different areas, that is climate change that has naturally
occurred for millions of years, where is the proof that man is responsible? No
PROOF has EVER been presented other than a bunch of liberal scientists (group

One thing conspicuously absent from his argument was the average global
temperature. He gave a few anecdotal temperatures. We all know that weather
fluctuates, its the long term average that is trending upward. I don't know
where he has been the last ten years but all the real scientific reports that I
have read showed record high average temperatures the last 10-12 years. Global
warming is not shown by the "consensus" among scientists that does
exists, but is shown by the overwhelming amount of evidence showing that warming
is occurring. This politicized argument spun by oil people with their oil money
is really getting old. Politics should not be informing science, rather science
should be informing politics.

Some additional information. The corrected data showed world wide temps were LOWER than had been reported for the prior many years. The director of this dept within NASA was none other than the demi-god of global warming, Dr James Hansen.
It is FACT that global temps have been declining. In fact, in the last 11 years the decline in temps has taken the world back to roughly the temps of the 1950's. We have reduced 5 decades of warming in 1 decade!
What does this mean? Global warming is a fraud perpetrated by those who believe in redistribution of wealth and the deindustrialization of America.
