I always like Ruth's, but on our last visit in May 2009, four members of our party got sick the following day.

I love Ruth's. It's a classic. Can't wait to see the new look. Thanks for another great review.

While visiting my daughter in Park city, Ut. we were watching Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and saw
the episode on Ruth,s Diner. Living in Alabama,
biscuits and gravy are a top choice for breakfast.
When we saw the size of those biscuits, well, who
could resist!! We got up early Mon. morning and
started out to find Ruth's. after a beautiful drive through Emigration Canyon, we arrived only to find
the restaurant CLOSED. we were so disappointed, but
decided to try again the next day. It was well
worth the second trip. The biscuits were so BIG, I
even took a picture of mine! Had to show the folks in Bama what a Utah biscuit looks like. The food
and service was excellent. We ate on the back patio.
which was lovely. You are surrounded by these beau-
tiful mountains, while you enjoy your meal. My
daughter and her family decided this would be a place they would continue to dine at. And, next time I visit, Ruth;s will be a must!!

When I went here, the service was AWFUL! The waiter that was taking the drink order outside forgot my order and made me feel like I didn't exist. He did end up giving it to me for free though, so that was nice. They said it would be an hour wait, but we ended up waiting for almost two hours! The waitress that ended up taking our order seemed so put out by the fact that we needed another minute, and when we had decided to order, she ended up walking away from our table. She was so completely rude, and didn't deserve any tip. The food was good, yes, but they really need to up their game and start being nice and more considerate of their customers.

While visiting the Salt Lake City area in September '09, we decided to visit a few of the places shown on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Ruth's was the first place we visited and it was by far the best of the three places we visited. I recommend it to everyone. The meatloaf was excellent and the service was very good. The waiter even took the time to write down directions for us to get back to our hotel.

While in SLC we also went to Pat's BBQ and the Blue Plate Diner. The food and service at Pat's was very good but it doesn't compare to Ruth's. Of course, you're comparing apples to oranges. We stopped at the Blue Plate Diner for desert and we were told their deserts are store bought and they we out of ice cream when we ordered a milk shake.

In summary, you won't be disappointed at Ruth's whether or not you're a fan of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. This is the place to visit in Salt Lake City. I only wish we had time to go back again and again.
