I didn't watch the game but it sounds like my man is off to a good start.
After watching Maynor in college I was hoping the jazz would be able to pick
him, he's very competitive, he wants to win, and he plays basketball
because he likes the game. Way to go.

the talent for the Jazz team? Loss by 30 points!! Maybe that is the problem
with the Jazz, poor scouts not knowing what talent looks like. Lets see what
happens tonight.

Sorry to say, but this isn't preseason it is a summer league. The
Jazz's roster looks like a bunch of no bodys'. THe worst summer league
roster I have ever seen. I hope that have some big moves in the near future if
not they will be in trouble. I thought Corbin might be a replacement for Slown,
but he sounds just like SLown. Need to find a replacement outside of the Slown
system.

Maynor looked pretty good most of the time. As far as there being an organized
Jazz offense to run that was a laugh. It looked a lot more like a pick up game
with refs and coaches.
Even if Maynor understood what he was supposed to run most of the other players were not in position or running what they were supposed to run.
Most of the Boston group were experience and they played more like a team with some set plays. They were organized.
The "Jazz" were not organize. Which is to be expected since there are too many players on the roster and most of them do not know the offense and most of them have not played with each other or in summer league before. Lyde and Augustine (played before) looked better.
Anyway Maynor looks promising and should get a lot better as the team gels. It is hard to get a good bead on Suton. He occasionally had a good move or two. Give Suton a year of playing time at the faster pace and it will be easier to see how good he is.

Honestly people the Jazz have no opening on the team this year. Boozer, Okur,
Williams, Brewer, Miles, Harpring, AK, Koufus, Fes, Maynor. Who would want to
play for the Jazz knowing that you have no chance of playing? Jerry has already
written up his rotations for the entire year on his chaulk board (we know he
doesn't use a computer). If you make the team now, the only playing time
you will receive is due to Boozer, AK and Memo being injured most of the time.

Hansbrough was long gone before the Jazz drafted. Maynor looks like he will
have a chance to be a good backup to D-Will. Other than that nobody on the
summer roster should make the team so it's not worth getting all worked up
about. As long as Maynor progresses Summer League is a success.

Wow people...this is just summer league. It is not Pre-season and it has no
indication on how the jazz will do. There is only Maynor, Suton and Brown (who
charlotte sent over to play on the jazz, because they didn't want a team in
the summer-leauge) who have a shot of playing in the nba...the rest of the guys
on our team are nobody's. Guys like Lyde who make the summer league an
anual thing. Trust me the jazz will lose all the summer league games. I hope
maynor and suton do well though.
And as for hansborough goes, trust me a few years from now you'll be happy we chose a solid-back up point guard apposed to him...and the fact that he was gone way before we had a chance...I think the jazz would have stuck with Maynor even if Hansborough was on the board at 20.
Hopefully the jazz can pull off the trade with Detroit for Hamilton and the jazz will be just fine this year.

Who cares. We all know Sloan won't play him, but rather will play some
"veteran" at the back-up point. Obviously, the Jazz may re-sign Price
and if so he would play. For once, I wish the Jazz would just committ to giving
the rookie the back-up position, so long as he doesn't stink it up. Why
draft a guy and not play him? Seems like that is what they did with Almond and
what may happen here. Doubt Fezz plays any either, and Rocky probably will only
get a few mins. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, Sloan. Most over-rated coach ever.

Gee Golly Batman, maybe if the Rookies worked hard and understood the game of
basketball as the likes of Shandon Anderson, Anrei Kirelenko, Paul Milsap and
Deron Williams that Coach Sloan would and will play them.

Slown played Milt Palacio and Keith Mccleod over DWILL. THere was a stretch
dwill didn't even play. Larry Miller had to tell SLown to play him. Slown
doesn't play youngsters very often. Your list is short compared to the
number of rookies that have played with Slown.

Robin, Cowboy Joe is right, D-WILL did come off the bench, but Cowboy Joe D-WILL
did come off the bench and played, so Robin was right on that. Later in the
season he started. If you looked at other coaches in the league, such as Phil
Jackson, it would be interesting to see if he played any rookies in his coaching
career. I don't think he played to many of them. It might be a small list
that Robin has, but it shows that Sloan will play Rookies, if the heads are on
straight.

Robin perhaps you should go play dolls. Sloan hates rookies. The four you
named would have started as rookies on any other team in the league. I hope
Almond sticks somewhere and averages 15 points a game with 2 steals and 4
assists and if named to the all defensive team. That would be complete
justice!!

Hey Micheal the Jazz had a tuff nosed big player he knocked Tim Duncan and
Marvin Williams around. His name was Rafa Araujo. I don't think that he is
the best player, but the dude was tuff and would give some hard fouls. They need
him or somebody like him. I rember Araujo pushing around Duncan and Kmart
neither wanted to mess with him. THat must tell you something. Bring back
Araujo. He won't be pushed around and will be an enforcer for DWILL other
wise you will have a hurt DWILL because nobody will protect him. Micheal just
"beat it"

I think Sloan will play Maynor over Price. The reason Price got stuck behing
Knight is because Knight was a true point and Price is a combo. Maynor is more
of a true point. I expect to see Price get the backup job at first but by the
half way point I can see Price leaving in a trade and Maynor being the back up.
I think the Jazz are ok and could get to a 4th or 5th seed with no major
injuries. I don't see them getting past LA or SA and maybe Denver but I
don't think they lose a 7 game series to Houston or Portland. I think 6 or
7 close games with those 2 but Utah wins. They have a solid core. Not a great or
championship contender core but a solid one. After this season they need to
really push on the trades and FA to get to a contender status. I think they need
to start with a better center and go from there.

Maynor will turn in to a really good pick for us- I hope DWill is pulling some
strings for Augustine, I think he would be a fine backup center... I don't
know what to think about Suton yet, I wasn't real excited about the pick to
begin with, and I'm still not.

coach wannabes have ever learned combined. He has more knowledge in his left

Get real, the only people the jazz are interested in are there two draft picks,

Another angle to the "Soan won't play rookie" thing:
When a player is drafted they have to play for the team that drafted them (unless waived, traded, etc.), and the team has some options that can keep them for several years. Those early years are the lowest paid years for a good player. Since the human body can only take so much NBA style punishment a player can only play so many years before they break down.
So if Jerry spares their body for a year or two early on, the player will have more HIGHLY PAID years of service left on his body.
In this sense Jerry is DOING THEM A FAVOR.
I think it's downright Fatherly of him in that light.

If the rookies are better or will get better faster by playing then they should play. That is much better than messing with projects like Price who may never become a real point guard but who loses games while he is learning.
Yes, I know that sometimes Price plays well and in some situations he is the right choice. But he is still not a point guard and I do not see any justification for losing games while he tries to learn.
Go get the right players and play them. Trade whenever you can get a better player. For 80 Million or whatever this team is going to cost, they best combination of available players should always be on the floor.
