Sounds like the Democrat Council members are taking a shot a Corroon for vetoing something they approved. Petty, petty, petty!

I'm a Republican and a county employee, and Mayor Corroon was absolutely right to veto this tax increase.

The absolute WORST thing you can do in the middle of a recession is to raise taxes.

As usual the County Council is wasting taxpayer dollars by employing their own attorney. I thought that is what we paid the County Attorny for. As usual the Democrats on the Council don't have their constituents best interests at heart. Cut the budget. NO tax increases.

You people are fools. Caroon vetoed this tax increase for one reason only--to build political capital at the detriment to the county. Come on people, the tax increase would be only $10 per year on a $250,000 home. In return for that pitance, the county would be a safer place because the criminal justice system would receive the funding it needs to convict dangerous criminals and keep them locked up. You better believe that the victimization caused by these criminals will amount to much more than $10 per year.

Perhaps had the District Attorney performed her job adequately the veto would have been more clear.

Glad to know the Council's attorney is working hard.

Stupid attorneys forgot "intent". If all parties know what was intended, then everything is fine.
Yeah, sure Driftin. | 6:37 p.m. July 7, 2009
Yeah, sure Driftin.

If you really believe that, the name "Driftin" describes your thought process pretty well. That kind of attitude is a sure formula for lawsuits.
Go Corroon! | 10:43 p.m. July 7, 2009
Corroon stood up tough to government employees that did not want pay cuts while so many tax-payers are losing their jobs.

It does not make any sense to raise taxes in an economic slowdown of this magnitude.

Listen to his proposals, things as simple and harmless as closing public pools on Sundays.

Corroon has proven himself a noble public leader again.
