Re: 'China Beach': It always comes down to the money. Funny, the money was there to pay the copyrights when they originally ran the series OVER 20 YEARS AGO! (apologize for shouting) but not now. Does Warner Bros. still own the rights? They're just a little company after all, so it's understandable that they don't have the scratch... The same story applies to another favorite series: 'The Wonder Years' Anyway, I agree: do NOT release this without the original soundtrack.
As someone who totally LOVED China Beach and who considers it THE best tv drama series of all time, I'm disappointed in the "purists" who don't want it released without the "original" music.
The music they speak of is, I assume, the paticular old sixties singles used on the show...Frankly, I think OTHER sixties singles could be used on the show to virutally the same effect.
The show's greatest assets, in my opinion, were it's story lines, its acting and its dialogue -- not it's music.
