Mormons, Catholics, Evangelicals, and others are easy prey for the 'creative bunch.' Of course, certain Muslim groups being attacked in the same way would go after their heads so their 'creative license' is severely restricted. A common problem of cowards who pick their victims carefully.

If true, then whats the issue.

I once heard of a book where a young lady was stolen by the missionares in England and sent to Brigham Young in SLC. At the end of the book she jumped from a window in the Temple into yhe Great Salt Lake and swam out to a passing boat that took her back to England.

Does anyone know what the name of the book is?

The claims about suicide in Utah are misleading. Utah suicide rates are most closely associated with the availability of guns, and are not significantly different than other inter-mountain states.
Beyond this, most claims about suicide by homosexuals are built around false understandings of the factors that contribute to it.

Fred I don't know the name of the book and I’ve heard this before that LDS missionaries stole young ladies away from England and made them walk to Utah in a tonal under the ocean build by the LDS Church, of course that is false and so is this book you read. I am not saying the early LDS members were perfect but this I do know they would not have done a lot of things they are accused of or portrayed as in books or movies. People if you feel the need to attack us then do so from a place of power and not from a place of faults accusations. No faith or non-faith have a perfect past.

Re: Fredd

Trapped by the Mormons? Oh what thats my life; but I think that is the book and movie your thinking about.

I don't know why "creative bunch" is in quotations - I can assure you that the people responsible for these works are indeed quite creative, even if you disagree with their worldview and even if they are cowards. And, for the record, their reasoning for attacking Christian sects probably has more to do with the fact that Christianity is far more prevalent in Europe and America than Islam. You may also notice that there aren't a lot of books or movies or jokes about Buddhism or Hinduism or even Judaism. That's because artists are usually reacting to the culture in which they were raised, and those religions aren't nearly as pervasive in this culture. Besides, some people, such as the "South Park" creators and PZ Myers, don't seem to have any problem criticizing or mocking Islam.

" That's because artists are usually reacting to the culture in which they were raised," I think this is actually a little off. Michael Medved has done alot of research on the whole Hollywood crowd, and compared to the rest of the country they are much less religious, much higher percentage of atheism etc. Actually quite disconnected from American values. They also love to court anyone who is "rebelling" against any sort of conservative religion they were raised in. The best way to handle this is to inform, educate, don't take it personally- and ignore the stupid stuff
