I hope this person just moves on and leaves us alone. I have no idea who is supporting her. I don't know anyone that appreciates her. Here we are in the most conservitive state in the union and she ain't liked, how can she really think she can run against Obama.
Apparently You Care | 2:12 p.m. July 3, 2009
Apparently, "Who Really Cares", cares; at least enough to vent in his comment. Whether you are a Palin supporter or not, it is news, even in Utah. Why so nasty? It is what it is and everyone has the right to seek his/her own political agenda. If you don't agree, vote for someone else.
Lover her | 2:24 p.m. July 3, 2009
I love Sarah Palin, she's not captive to anyone, not McCain, not the GOP, she's so darn independent. What a breath of fresh air a confident mother is, especially when compared to the stodgy, Washington fuddy-duddies who just need to be thrown out.

The only ones who should dislike Palin are the liberals.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE SARAH run for POTUS!

TINA FEY needs all the work she can get!

Anonymous | 2:32 p.m. July 3, 2009
I am happy for Sarah. She has a great little guy to give her whole attention to. I work with those special spirit and he needs his Mom home. I wish her all the luck in the world and hope those that have been unkind will leave her alone. She is a great lady and I know those Alaskian people will miss her her tons.

So we already have our two finalists for the GOP 2012 nomination: Romney and Palin.

I'll take Romney. We'll be ready for someone who understands money, recovery, and health care. He also understands the Constitution, just in case it is hanging by a thread at that point.
mark | 2:40 p.m. July 3, 2009
Angry, this country needs someone like Palin that cannot even finish one term as governor? Really?
Soccer mom | 2:41 p.m. July 3, 2009
Hey, lover her, I'm not a lib and I don't like Palin. She needs to be home taking care of her little baby. As a mother of a handicapped child, I know how much time and care they need. My conservative values don't support a mother with a baby who needs her working in a high-powered job like governor or vice-president. I think the Republicans may as well just save their money for 2016 if they are going to try and run with her. She does not have my support.
Resign yourself to your fate | 2:41 p.m. July 3, 2009
Sarah Palin would be lucky to win the Republican nomination. She would never win a national election. But for her, McCain might now be president.
Hollywood | 2:46 p.m. July 3, 2009
@Lover her
Ummm, no. I'm a very conservative Republican who absolutely abhors Palin. C'mon, the lady is as dumb as a rock.

Only reason she was picked as a running mate was to try to take the female vote away from Obama, It was McCain's only shot...hoping a large bloc of Clinton supporters would flock over to Palin.

My worst fear was that McCain would win and then a heart attack or assasination would leave Palin in charge.

The Republican party is in BIG trouble when it has half-wits like Palin and hate-mongers like Limbaugh as the two main voices.
Prayer | 2:49 p.m. July 3, 2009
Oh Please God help Palin win the republican bid for 2012 so that it guarantees Obama a sweeping victory.

All Blue except Utah, Georgia, and West Virginia. A pretty map indeed.
Mike Richards | 2:52 p.m. July 3, 2009
The condescension of some posters is unbelievable. Mrs. Palin has done more than any one of them and she doesn't hide behind some pseudonym. Could it just possibly be that some posters are so ashamed of what their friends and neighbors would think of them if those friends and neighbors knew how they thought about women that they hide behind those false identities? Or could it be that they're so ashamed of what they write that even they can't stomach the thought of signing their own name to their posts.

Mrs. Palin was the only politician to stand up for traditional American values. Mr. Obama misrepresented his agenda. Mr. McCain tried to pretend that he held conservative values. Mr. Bidden sold his soul for a spot on the ticket with the very man that he vilified during his own campaign. Mrs. Palin, alone, spoke as a true American who wasn't ashamed of her principles and wasn't ashamed to voice them.

Good for her. May she excel in everything that she does - including seeking higher office.
Charlie Brown | 2:52 p.m. July 3, 2009
GOOD GRIEF! Palin is not the answer to combat Obama. She is feeds on attention grabbing headlines on a pointless moral crusade no one cares about (i.e.-David Letterman). I know there's no way I would vote her into the White House.

I think the Republicans are committing political suicide right before our eyes. It;s a difficult time for the Republicans. Obama has so much more momentum for the future with all these front runners falling off. I imagine Romney is really licking his chops at the possibilities. Nothing seems to be out of the realm of possibility--I wouldn't even be surprised to hear that Huckabee will come out as a closet atheist. Ah the possibilities.
Ralph | 2:59 p.m. July 3, 2009
As a liberal I never thought I would be thanking Sarah Palin for anything, but I find myself eating crow this afternoon. Thank you Sarah for saving us from the mind numbing Michael Jackson media blitz, even if it is only for a couple of hours.
@Alaskan McBush | 3:02 p.m. July 3, 2009
I really appreciated your comments-- it's the best laugh I've had in a long time.... Thank You
Like the media controls the thoughts of people... hmmmphhhhhh we all have free agency and the majority see Palin as a bad choice or in the words of my son, "She's Lame".
I do hope that the Republicans do field the strongest candidates available to run in 2012 because as citizens of the United States of America we should have the best choices out there.. McBush and Palin weren't it last go round...
Now go back out and kill a moose....

Hey Mike:

Sarah needs all the "sanctimoneous" help she can muster. PLEASE APPLY.

When all the RIGHT-WING-NUT-JOBS start signing their names to the venom they spew, the rest of us will follow their self-righteous lead.
Please help the GOP | 3:07 p.m. July 3, 2009
Palin is not the face the GOP needs as their leader for the 2012 race. She comes off as another dubya lackey. The GOP needs someone to shake things up the way Obama did with the dems. No more of the dubya GOP. Like healthcare, the GOP needs a total overhaul. And reminiscing about the Reagan days isn't going to help either. Truth hurts, but its time to move forward not backward.
Brother Chuck Schroeder | 3:10 p.m. July 3, 2009
Even though I voted for her in 2008, and liked her, at that time, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she is resigning from office on July 26th 2009 ?. GOP Steele hates her guts, and would never support her as a run for President in 2012, and she don't have the funds to do it on her own. Even if she plans on hooking-up with Mitt Romney, seeing the word Mormon is in both families. I know she's done now. All she has left when she said Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she is resigning from office, is be a stay at home mom. That she can do. I hate to see Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin go, but in John McCain dirty politics anything goes. And, America is not ready for EX-Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney yet. Nor 2 Mormon's running our Country.

RIP.

re: Mike Richards | 3:11 p.m. July 3, 2009
If Palin was such a beacon of "American Values," how come America laughed and said, "No thanks!" I get a kick out of GOP faithful that think Palin is the one that can pull them out of the gutter. Palin only appeals to the delusional base. The GOP lost the center, and picking her as a challenger is exactly what every Democrat ,including me, dreams about. That would lock up 4 more years of Obama, and even GOP strategists will tell you that.

She's not captive to Ray Bradbury novels. I'd bet she was, is, & will never be anything more than a figurehead for the Evangelical Right.

Let's be honest; They needed to tutor Sarah on what was happening in the real world and then only let her appear w/ yet another tool of the GOP establishment i.e. Pretty Boy Sean.

I think the Goal is changed. She just wants to Focus on the Goal.

Bring Down Obama.

Stop Abortion.

It does not have to be in that order.

Palin has slipped 25% in her home state approval ratings since she and McCain lost the election; she probably saw the writing on the wall regarding any chance for re-election.

Hey Alaskan - the media didn't make her out to be an idiot but she did give them fuel for the fire. Come on, there is truly nothing that she could offer as VP. He didn't defend his religion, a main issue for him, when he has the opportunity and his understanding of money and recovery is to takeover failing companies, get rid of a lot current employees and then resell (sounds like what happened with GM and Chrysler).

Arizona - stop dreaming about Romney he is just not right for this job.
Progress? | 3:30 p.m. July 3, 2009
This is a perfect (calculated) modern day lynch mobbing. Torture her and her family until she gives in.[Resigns for the betterment of all Alaskans]

[25] years since Ms. Geraldine Ferraro was the dem. candidate for vice president, last year since Ms. Hillary Clinton was [a] dem. candidate for Pres. and this is all we have to show for the way Americans [respect and value] female political leaders. Where is the progress?

Instead of using valid arguments to challenge her [Ms. Palin] leadership idealogies, skills, the american taliban (IE: msDNC, letterman, national dnc) uses libel/slander and ethic complaints to log jam any social progress to take place in gov't. [Thus the resignation]. But what is more tragic, they have no respectful sense when it comes to cracking jokes about a '[female] political leaders' children. Where is the [progress] Ms. Ferraro and other's have fought so hard for for decades?

This hogwash about anything goes in politics is socially damaging and extremely divisive which is what the social dems used to get power in the first place. [Unsubstantiated] Ethic complaint them right out of office.

Don't see too much social progress [CHANGE] mr. president!
FollowTheMoney | 3:37 p.m. July 3, 2009
When I first 'met' Sarah she was a conservative's financial wunderkind, mailing rebate checks to all Alaska citizens (probably more to do with the price of oil than her leadership abilities). Today, Alaska (3rd worst budget woes) has over 30% shortfall. Who would want this kind of thing on one's record.

Bye.

One qualification for POTUS should be the ability to speak the English language correctly. Palin doesn't qualify.
rightascension | 3:49 p.m. July 3, 2009
How exactly this will help her become president is quite beyond me. Resigning after Only part of a term as governor of Northern Exposure out of the boonies.
Stalwart Sentinel | 3:52 p.m. July 3, 2009
I have a true dislike for Palin but viewing this from a purely objective standpoint, a politician only does this for one of two reasons:

1) They are gearing up for a higher political position, or

2) They have done something wrong and the media just hasn't sniffed it out yet.

Either way for Palin, the story ends with her humiliated and back home in Wasilla.
The KEY Other Red State | 3:53 p.m. July 3, 2009
On behalf of the Republican Party of Florida and Republicans across the state, I would like to thank Governor Palin for her service to our Party. She worked tirelessly to defend Republican principles throughout her service in state and local government and demonstrated tremendous courage as a historic candidate on the Republican presidential ticket in 2008. We respect her decision and wish Governor Palin and her family the very best as she moves forward.
Don't Give Up | 3:53 p.m. July 3, 2009
on politics Sarah. We enjoyed you too much!

"As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where— where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border." --Sarah Palin, explaining why Alaska's proximity to Russia gives her foreign policy experience, interview with CBS's Katie Couric, Sept. 24, 2008

"[T]hey're in charge of the U.S. Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom." --Sarah Palin, getting the vice president's constitutional role wrong after being asked by a third grader what the vice president does, interview with NBC affiliate KUSA in Colorado, Oct. 21, 2008
Good Luck! | 3:55 p.m. July 3, 2009
For those of you that do not really know her (& only believe the lies & SNL skits), she is a very competent Gov. & works for the best interest of all, not just for her political gain (I.E.: Clinton, McCain, Obama & the likes).

I hope she does start running again, Bob Barr & Her would make a great libertarian ticket.
Forrest | 3:56 p.m. July 3, 2009
Sarah Palin is great. I'd vote for her in a minute. Our president should not be a professional politician. Too bad her first GOP presidential ticket was with someone as arrogant as John McCain.
To Brother Chuck Schroeder: | 3:57 p.m. July 3, 2009
Please do not associate the word "Mormon" with Mitt Romney. First and foremost, Mitt Romney is a liberal politician who just happens to be Mormon, so please keep religion out of this.

John McCain won the GOP nomination because the South Carolina ticket was split between two conservatives - Mike Huckabee and Fred Thopson.

Sarah Palin is the last hope for the GOP to return to conservatism and not this wishy-washy liberal party that has been infested with supporters of John McCain, Mitt Romney, and Rudy Guiliani.

Mr. Richards thinks Bristol Palin is the ultimate spokesperson for abstinence. We have her husband, a member of the Alaskan Independence movement who promote Alaska leaving the union while Alaskans get $1.89 for each dollar they pay in federal taxes.
palin seals romney's fate | 4:13 p.m. July 3, 2009
if palin runs her and romney will end up splitting the far-right votes. this would leave an opening for a moderate to win the gop nomination. maybe huntsman or someone like him?
Himself | 4:20 p.m. July 3, 2009
Well, she always said she would she would do the right thing for Alaska. Look for a top 10 from Letterman on this.
Grateful | 4:21 p.m. July 3, 2009
Goodbye Governor Palin and thank you sincerely for your public service. I'm sorry you had to put up with the media/Democrat smear machine. Playing in the majors is a rough gig and you did a valiant job of graciously putting up with it for a long time.

The rest of you thinkers shouldn't believe everything you get from the media.

Posting as awsomeron, Certified Right Wing Nut Job. I have been using the same user name since 1995. Never changed it never will.

Now what yours, or at least what is yours today.

I find the Sarah Palin thing more interesting and more interesting. She walks the Walk and talks the talk.

She might have Won had she not been running with John (liberal) McCain.
Flake | 4:24 p.m. July 3, 2009
What a flake! Can't even finish one term. The instant gratification generation strikes again! What a Flip-Flopper! It is indeed best for the citizens of Alaska for Palin to resign if she thought holding the title of Governor was a waste of time.

If she thinks she has a chance at the Presidency, she's dumber than she appears. We already elected a dumb Governor as US President once and looked how that turned out. I can't imagine we'd be dumb enough as a nation to do that again.

Then again, there are millions of Republicans in this country that favor what is best for their party over what is best for the country.
Sean O'Limbaugh | 4:29 p.m. July 3, 2009
I agree we need people in charge that are dumber than the average Joe the plumber. Then we can all play in our own puddles of ignorance.

The Liberals who have mocked this fine woman leader will rue 7/26/09, when she can now take them on fair and square. Nothing worse than a woman's scorn.
SLMG | 4:44 p.m. July 3, 2009
Not liking Sarah Palin is not about disrespect for women in politics, it is about Sarah Palin herself. I would not vote for a man that came across as uninformed about issues and acted as cheesy as Palin did during the campaign. She does not belong in politics, she belongs preaching at evangelical camp meetings. That is her style and there is nothing wrong with that but some where along the line she confused politcs with preaching.
Do what is right | 4:45 p.m. July 3, 2009
Truman said, If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen, and so what you are doing and (why?) is the right decision.

Better to know now, than as vice president or president.

Congratulations to Governor Palin! I am sure it will be refreshing to get away from the slimy world of politics, if that's what you are actually doing. At one time, I considered a career in politics, but I felt that it was a bad idea to spend so much time surrounded by so many bad and incompetent people.

Do the LDS Conservatives know how she feels about their religion? Better check out if she feels LDS members are Christians or a cult.
