So... Is this the "traditional" marriage that must be protected, or just a figure of speech?
Well if he can be married to his country, what is next? Children? Pets? Multiple countries? I think we need to think about this before we let it get to far.
Don't worry. We already have the Defense of Marriage act from 1996 on the books, and ammendment 3.... Unless America is female ....
Why get married, I'm told gays getting married will ruin it? Why enter into such a fragile commitment?
Thank you for a wonderful article. It makes me feel better about not attending freedom festivals, lighting firecrackers (against the law), and on and on. I get all kinds of emails about how we need to "take our country back" and display our patriotism. I love America, and I like the song God Bless America. However, I love being a citizen of the planet and hope that God will bless all nations and peoples.
Appreciated your article as well, perhaps the thoughts of the young person would fit well with the lack of appreciation that so many seem to have for this great country. Watching last night the grueling effort that was made to bring about a Constitution makes one appreciate how determined these great men were in giving to generations yet to be born a nation of laws, order and protection. We put out the flag today, to honor those who have sacrificed to keep us free and will watch fireworks tonight. I have and will continue to express gratitude for the freedoms we have and pray that we might continue to have. "God Bless America, Land that I Love!"
