I wonder why there is a deficit? 40 Million on a slimey fish! I RESENT government spending my tax money for something so worthless. So what if they die off? Did the world implode when the dodo bird went extinct? We don't have to save every slug, snail, vulture or whatever that goes the way of the dinosaur. Let 'em go and let's eat catfish!

40 MILLION?! Shocking! I'm hoping that's a typo. I'm an angler too. Now how much are we paying teachers again?

Are we worse off...

...without passenger pigeons?
If they were still around in the numbers that once were we'd be trying to kill them off to protect our crops.

The fish in Utah Lake helped support the starving pioneers for several years.
Maybe saving the fish isn't such a bad idea.

We pay for our mistakes

We're paying for the mistake of introducing Carp into Utah Lake. It'll be money well spent, that will increase the health of the lake. This is bigger than just removing a trash fish or just saving an endangered fish, it's about improved quality of the entire Utah Valley.
