...just wait to see what happens if cap & TAXXX is made final..!
Now I get to save the planet even more!
every year RMP asks for another rate increase. These rate increases are not needed and they know it. RMP was turned down the last time they tried to gouge the consumer and here they are at it again. Add to this the Cap and Trade utility increases that the great teleprompter king Obama is trying to shove down our throats and soon will will be using our Coleman lanterns to light our homes!
The "customer charge" increase from $3 to $5.70 is a 90% increase in funding for this portion of the business. That's a whopping increase!
Is this because base-load demand has actually dropped because of the downturn in the economy and the costs to provide service as a percentage haven't changed? Has RMP re-modeled their growth projections to correct for the downturn in the economy and slower construction growth as well as modified the utilities pre-recession expansion plans?
California's base load has dropped between 2&4% for the three largest utilities in CA as a result of the recession.
I believe RMP needs to provide further detailed information in future press releases that provides clarification and answers to obvious questions.
The Utah PSC should also provide some quality quantitative independent analysis for a change.
To the commenter from 4:35 pm: check your bill, the customer charge is a small portion of the total. Have you only been paying $3.00 per month?
Also, the PSC is the judge in the case -- they don't provide independent analysis. However, many other parties do. These cases receive close scrutiny abd RMP is required to provide hundreds of pages of supporting documents before ever getting a rate increase.
I would be OK with this increase if we were build nuclear power plants with it.
the commission has technical staff -- they are paid to provide analysis.
get out your calculator. An additional $2.70/mos. X 600,000 customers = $1.62M per month or $19.44M per year. Sorry but that is not a small amount of money. Dismissing it as trivial or without an explanations based in facts would be foolish.
Unfortunately the article failed to provide any facts, reasons or justifications for the increase. I'm not saying their not justified, but the utility nor the DN writer has provided a single reason why.
Why?
This utility company has been and is the most expensive utility that the people are paying and justification is not there. This utility company, RMP, has more than doubled our costs for electrical power since they took over and bought out UP&L. This company is not based in Utah and use Utah rate payers to subsidize other states and users. It is time to rewrite the laws guaranteeing stockholders and shareholders of benefits and profits and eliminate this clause.
This company is being mismanaged and defrauding users with continual rate increases and manipulating billing methods to defraud us. If anything, Rocky Mountain Power should be forced to cut rates, not raise rates in a downward spiraling economy. Other utilities have cut rates so why is RMP continually being allowed to be fraudulent in their raising rates every year?
The PSC better be more diligent in investigating the management of this company and follow the money they are taking from us.
these rate hikes are not going towards benefits and raises. They are cutting benefits. Buffett has to make up the 20 million donation he made to obama.
I DEMAND A RATE DECREASE!
