What a name to pile on to the rivalry. Awesome
Welcome to the Utes! Guess what YBU? Joseph Smith is a Ute!! :) I like it.
That really is classic that Joseph Smith will be playing corner for the Utes.
Welcome to the U of U...you'll love it.
I think that is hilarious. Lets hope he turns out to be a star so we can hear his name all the time.
Just the first sentence alone made my day. That is hilarious.
Oh Yeh and he's a fast cornerback.
3 years from now he'll be a junior!
Relax Yewt Fans....He is not related!!......but soon enough you will be calling him "Toast" after Heaps lays up a couple of career stats along side your collective!
After he picks the grass out of his grill a few time. It's funny now HE'S the man and that you gave up on Max. Consider the o-line body bag count when Oklahoma lays a few blew brothers injured and useless after the Massacre at Arlington.
You are doing a lot of talking sister "Can't wait." Heaps may just meet his match in Joseph Smith.
Good to have you on this board though, maybe you could get some of your sister friends to post.
Heaps will sure put up some career stats. 6 interceptions in one game.
I laughed out loud when read this article!!!! Hilarious!!
As long as BYU wins even just 2 out of every 3 years, I can live with BYU throwing Utah a bone (or 6 interceptions). The Utes got a gift, they know it, and they praise Max Hall for it.
But if Utah is counting on Max to win the game for them again this year, they've got another thing coming. In reality, Ute fans gloat about last year because they know the meaning of BYU giving it to them this year will be entirely different: coming in the form of a pounding instead of a present.
Joseph Smith is his name? That makes me smile. I'm not sure why. It's just that everytime I hear that name I will automatically think of the man who best carried the name. What a great name to have. But no matter what this kid does on or off the football field, good or bad, whenever his name is announced or referenced, everyone will think of someone else--the great man who carried that name before him.
He might as well be named BYU or Honor Code, because that's the kind of person he will represent, regardless of the uniform he wears. Awesome!
"...they know the meaning of BYU giving it to them this year will be entirely different: coming in the form of a pounding..."
A pounding? When was the last time we were "pounded" by the "why?" Was is something like 13 yrs ago? Seems to me, all the recent pounding was from US to YOU! Ha ha ha ha! Relish it!
Now there you go again, sister. You many not understand this yet but choosing which years to look at without a solid reference point is known as cherry picking. An informed college football fan will look at a specific piece of history such as...tenure of the coach. In this case it is 4 years for Whittingham, 4 years for Mendenhall. Using that historically significant number as a guide, Utah and BYU are even with 2 wins each. Go back farther into the Crowton / Urban Myer years and the wins are decidedly in the Utes favor.
Visit the board again and even get some of your girlfriends to post. In no time, you will be intelligently conversing with the guys about college football.
Agreed. And very soon the pounding will be at the hands of Joseph Smith!
10:46am is a female fan trying to learn the game. Props to her. Keep up the effort!
That is rich, a corner for the Utes named Joseph Smith.
That is like BYU recruiting a receiver named Judas Iscariot.
Either way it will be interesting to see how he does and how many other people poke at his name, or if he sees the field or what not.
I'm not sure who the girl was but ditto on the props to the effort. I wish I knew more girls who were passionate about football, especially attractive girls who were passionate about football.
For what it's worth, I don't count the Crowton years, they were a complete embarrasment. It's not like all of Utah's football coaches have been great. As far as the Mendenhall/Whittingham comparison, both have done great things in different ways, and I can't wait for the Fall to start. I think this will be a defining year for both coaches.
I think the BYU receivers will hold this man in sacred awe and play tentatively and carefully so they don't make the Prophet's namesake look bad on the field. That is the way those superstitious fools at the school down south think!
"That is rich, a corner for the Utes named Joseph Smith.
That is like BYU recruiting a receiver named Judas Iscariot."
Are you serious?!!!! The Utes recruiting a corner named Joseph Smith is comparable to your kewgs recruiting a corner named Chief Ouray.
Oh, FYI, a little Utah history for you: U. of Utah was founded by Brigham Young in 1850. Warren Dusenberry founded byu in 1862.
