'The new laws provide cash infusions to kick-start transportation and technology projects, stiffen penalties for underage drinkers who drive and reach a little deeper into taxpayer wallets.' ... so, what are they reaching into our wallets for? what law is this related to?

These 'Boneheads' on the hill & in D.C. just don't get it, we really don't have that much more to live-on let alone have stolen from us in the name of 'Taxes' ... it's time for a serious revolt!

It won't do anything except drive a significant portion of our population to an underground economy where they won't pay taxes, won't register their businesses and won't try to become part of our society. It's funny how these conservative republicans claim to be so righteous but only care about being vindictive.

good now i won't be the only one showing up on the job speaking english or be the out sider while all the others are trying to boss me around. You bet I'm a veteran like my father and grandfather before me ...these guys will always shove you out of the line..for what? i paid my dues in more ways than one ..it's time for these guys to pay the piper as they sure in the heck were with me in a foreign land fighting for our freedom...they want to come here ..come through the front door ..period ..don't thread on me or the flag!! i say it was coporate America who put you here..well it is the real America who can put you out..you don't see no Americans going over to Australia and telling their people how to be or demanding citizenship less then the laws require...get in line!!

OK Utahs, time to check the legal documentation of those you give rides to, sell to, buy from, etc. because you may be found "aiding illegals." To the Hispanic-looking, African Americans,Asians, particularly of Chinese descent and Whites of every shade, did I forget anybody? I think I includede everyone. Well, ALL OF YOU, make sure to carry your national identification ID. Now the police can profile you and ask you for legal documentation. American friends, don't be offended if your local police ask you to show your passport. Don't have parties at home because you may "harbor illegals." IN THE NAME OF THOSE OF US WHO TOOK THE TIME TO READ this bill one word to those who passed it: Thank you for advancing President Obama's agenda of turning this State into a controlled-totalitarian socialist-protectionist entity of a Federation! My personal opinion as to why Americans need to fight illegal immigration has'nt much to do with the illegal aliens. Sure they commit document fraud, and other crimes, but many are hardworking people,etc. No, my main reason for encouraging all Americans to fight illegal immigration, is because the GREEDY ELITE WANT IT TOO MUCH. THESE ARE THE SAME PEOPLE THAT HAVE BROUGHT THE NATION TO THE POINT IT IS NOW AT--IN THE DUMPS. WHY ALLOW THEM TO CONTINUE THEIR SICK PLANS OF WAGE DEPRESSION AND MAKING AMERICANS PAY TO SUBSIDIZE MEXICO. Please stop the cries of RACISM! Every time someone wants to enforce a law or stand up for a moral principle, the left screams racism. I know they believe America is deeply flawed and needs to be destroyed. However, many of us want to keep this great nation alive. Obey the law, be proud to be an American, learn English, etc. The left, since they illegals are superior to Americans, should leave with the illegals. See if another country will be willing to put up with your constant criticism and complaining.

Phantom Panther is right stop the cries of racism! Illegal alien isn't even a race, and neither is Latino for that matter. Now if they want to claim Native American, that may be a different issue. Latinos from Latin America no more makes a race than does American from North America.

We will have to see if Chicken Little's prophecy of the sky falling will actually happen with SB-81 going into effect today. I don't really think that there will be much change. If there is at least we will be able to go into bars for a drink without the private club fee.

One feature of SB-81 allows anyone out there that loses his/her job to an illegal alien, will be able to sue the employer, no matter other circumstances. A few good lawsuits would be helpful. So don't just complain do something.

How many illegals come from places other than Latin America compared to other countries? Why provide drivers licenses, birthright citizenship, and many healthcare advantages? On a federal and state level quit holding out the welcome mat.
Fine heavily those who profit from their cheap labor as well as enforce the laws and quit making it about loss of freedom and big brother.
Why isn't there more of a push to reform Mexico and Latin America countries? Why fly the Mexican flag when you want to leave your country so much?

To bad they watered down the bill we need all companies having to verify citizenship and them we would see them all going home. 10 million illegal gone would help the economy and let citizens fill all of those job. For the right price there isn't any job that people wont do.

Being here illegally drives people into the shadows. They are exploited by businessmen who threaten to turn them in if they complain.

By not enforcing this law, the Police departments will cause just the opposite. It will convince them that they are at the greedy business owners mercy.

Time to use E-verify and eliminate this mess completely. The only people opposed to it are the exploiters of men.

Shurtleff was reported to have told ICE that he would work with them if they would ignore anyone here without permission if that person was a victim or witness. Are we going to even try to enforse the laws we have, or should we change the laws to match what we re willing to do?

Our soldiers didn't give their lives to encourage people to come here illegally and then demand free admittance and free services. They gave their lives to preserve our freedom and our law. The illegals have no rights. They are not American Citizens. They fly the flag of Mexico instead of the flag of the United States. The majority of them come here to receive benefits that should be reserved for American Citizens. English is the official language NOT SPAINISH!!! Why do you think California is in such financial trouble?. They cater to and hand over money to the illegals in medical benefits, state assistance, food stamps, housing etc. I am so tired of hearing how they are not being respected. Why should the be....they don't respect us as a nation. To them the United States is a free market, they feel we owe them a living and that they have rights. They don't have the right to benefits belonging to United States Citizens. If they want those rights, they had better earn them.

Please read the Immigration laws of Mexico.I wish we would enforce our laws, like they do. Any sane country will defend its borders, or it will not exist. We need to be taking care of Americ and Americans first! Illegal parents cannot have legal babies here. America has been sold to China, Japan and Saudi Arabia. Mexico is reclaiming America, so she can be one big Mexico. English is our language, and Spanish is the language of Mexico. Teach only in English here, and go to Mexico for Spanish. Mexico does not teach in English..NEVER! Wake up America!

All Americans are the offspring of immigrants - unless you are a native American Indian. America is a melting pot of peoples from all over the world. America has held out the promise of liberty and opportunity to all nations: "send us your huddled masses yearning to be free." Let us share the blessings of liberty with many others.

I have no problem with LEGAL immigration. I have no problem with extending the opportunities of liberty to Mexicans and others. I have a big problem with ILLEGAL immigration.

A possible solution is to liberalize the quotas and process of immigration while strictly enforcing immigration laws. Allow more Mexicans into the country LEGALLY.

New immigrants should be required to assimilate into the American culture and become AMERICANS, not Mexican-Americans or German-Americans; just "Americans." Sure, remain proud of your heritage, as I do mine - but make your allegiance with your new country - the United States of America. The rest of us should be tolerant as new immigrants learn English - second generation immigrants quickly pick up the language; often first generation immigrants struggle to learn a new language - as it was with our ancestors.
