kidding. What a narrow minded article. Soccer is the biggest sport in the world. If the US actually starts noticing, why do you have to ridicule that?

This article is from somebody that knows little about soccer and obviously did not even follow the tournament. "Spain being #1 is meaningless like pre-season college BB/Football rankings", are you freaking kidding me??? Spain has not lost a match in over 3 years and had the longest winning/non loss streak going in the history of soccer and you are trying to tell me their #1 ranking means nothing? What a moron! Also their odds at advancing out of group play that last day you mention was nothing like miracle on ice, but BEFORE they advanced anyone in the world would have told you it would have been just as improbable! Freaking miracle!

Nobody even scored a goal against Brasil, let alone has lead them at halftime in many many matches, so give the USA some credit. This tournament was basically the world championships for 2009 and this was our best showing ever, SO GET A CLUE! HISTORY WAS JUST MADE!

This is still America ... and we're still talking about soccer. America is full of morons, if that's what you consider people who are not interested in soccer. I wish to congratulation the U.S. soccer team, as well as Mr. Edward, who informed us what a big deal this event was. But keep in mind, it's still going to be a while before we American fans start caring about soccer. History may have been made. Most of us missed it - and don't particularly care.

Soccer/Football is on its way of becoming a top 3 spectator sport in the US within 20 years or so. MLS is growing and improving, slowly but surely. ESPN execs are smart enough to know that soccer is "the real deal". They bought the Premier League rights in England and just bought the Scotish Premier League rights for England and Ireland. Won't be surprised if ESPN comes up w/ a soccer-specific channel in the US(they already have one in the UK) to show exclusively the beautiful game.

at least on the international level. I just can't bring myself to watch all the flopping that goes on. You will see some guy get tackled, he'll roll around on the ground in total agony for 2 to 3 minutes finally to be hauled off on a stretcher only to return 2 minutes later. If they made a rule that said "if you are carried off the field on a stretcher, then you are done for the game", then I might be more inclined to watch.
