How unfortunate that the organization's leaders with a once laudable mission could be proud that "its projects help gentrify" these economically mixed parts of the city. Gentrification will force out the very people the organization wants to assist.

It's fine that they want to create market rate housing, but it should not be at the expense of the families who need the unique, living and workspace Artspace pioneered many years ago. Gentrification is a very slippery slope.

The Artspace mission is certainly one people can believe in. However, the heavy-handed, rough evictions of late have fractured the art communities that this project created.

Responsible management includes clear, frequent communication. The Artspace board, executive management, and property managers are dismal failures at delivering quality, timely communication to its tenants and residents. The opportunity is ripe for new direction and a release of the old guard.
