the news last night showed an over abundance of cheeries and bought some today for $1.88 a lb.

Farmers are the backbone of this country.When they suffer we all suffer!!

too much on imported fruit and vegetables and don't realize how vulnerable we really are. Crop failures also happen overseas. Makes me wish I had a few good fruit trees in my backyard, as we did when we lived in Utah and PA.

We used to be involved in Utah County fruit farming and I can tell you, they grow the best fruit there! Jersey peaches are NOTHING compared to Utah ones.

I was really sorry to read this article--farming is the toughest job in the world and we don't appreciate our farmers nearly enough.

I too miss the Utah fruit.....

Watermelon just isn't watermelon here and peaches taste like cardboard.... no to mention oh how I miss the cherries.......

I too am sad to hear about the difficulties of the farmers... we are living in the last days hang on it's going to get much worse! Hope we all have food/water storage....

Willard and Perry are in Box Elder County not Weber County. We who live north of Salt Lake City have become accustomed to the folks in the big city not knowing what is where in the state. For example, news stories are always putting Roy in Davis County. It might be well if your reporters learned a little more about the area they are covering.

I don't get it--one of the local news stations, two nights ago, interviewed cherry farmers here in Utah who said this was a bumper crop that was making up for sub-pars harvests from the past few years...now here is the opposite story. Who is right?

I am sorry for the cherry farmers in Utah. I live in Colorado and our recent grocery ad had Bing cherries for $1.38 per pound - they are from Washington state.

"Farmers are the backbone of this country.When they suffer we all suffer!!" Conservatives want those who cultivate, harvest and process food deported. Last year a few farmers failed to get workers at harvest.

America imports most its food today. Why not drive more American farmers out of business. We saw what conservatives have done to the rest of the economy.
