Horrible.
Utah seriously needs to enact or enforce a law on this.
I'm also tired of following gravel trucks that spit rocks out all over the highway.
Very sad.
We do have a tie down your loads law that pertains to personal and business vehicles. There is a large number of commercial vehicles dumping and strewing their loads along the freeways and the law is not well enforced. People moving and hauling personal belongings usually lose the larger objects and unaware they are dumping their items or just ignore it an keep going. The biggest offenders of dumping on the freeways are the haulers, dump trucks, and trash trucks who are the most negligent in keeping their trucks clean.
In the last few years there seems to have been a reduction of UHP on the freeways and little enforcement of speed laws or any other law. When an accident does happen on the freeway we can count on 5 UHP vehicles to show up but where are they in the meantime?
It is unfortunate, but I see this type of injury on a regular basis. Fatalities and serious injuries of this type will continue to be a fact in Utah until the UHP decide to enforce the laws on the books!
