That root beer ice cream sounds perfect-simple and delicious. I think we'll make some tonight after we grill cheeseburgers. Thanks for another great article.

Root beer ice cream | 11:12 p.m. July 1, 2009
I tried this recipe and it's good! We used half & half to cut the calories a little, but still yum.

Am I missing the root beer recipe? It just mentions using dry ice or carbonated water nothing else that I can see. Anyone out there that can tell me what page it's on? Or directions?
so. cal gal--are you blonde? | 11:02 a.m. July 6, 2009
It is a root beer ice cream recipe, not a root beer recipe. Do a search on the internet for how to make root beer and you will probably find it...

The title says ice cream,(that's a comma)root beer which implies two different items not root beer ice cream (available at the store)! Actually I was blonde until 5, lol, but seriously how nasty can you be? I know there are internet sites but since you find many versions it would be nice to get a tried & true recipe from a friendly person. You know, the type you find on sites that actually offer tips and helpful information? You might try that sometime and see if your attitude gets nicer.

"Ice cream, root beer, a perfect union" yes it must mean mixed though it goes well as a float. But since the whole idea is to make it from scratch, they should have included the root beer recipe too. Then the kids would really have fun!
Root Beer Recipe is here ---- | 12:29 p.m. July 14, 2009
5/5/5 -- 5 gallons of water, 5 pounds of dry ice, 5 pounds of sugar, and 1 bottle of Rootbeer extract available on the grocery spice aisle. I suggest using a 10 gallon water cooler as the water bubbles greatly when the dry ice is added. Stir when the bubbling dies down. You may want to buy more than 5 lbs of dry ice as it evaporates between the time you buy it and the time you use it. Put a cooler in your car trunk to transport it. Do not touch with your bare hand as it burns. Best made an hour or so before you want to drink it -- it will go flat within a day or so. Enjoy -- from a friendly So. Idaho gal!
Another Way to Make Ice Cream | 1:01 p.m. July 14, 2009
Instead of using cans, you can use a pint/quart freezer bag and a gallon freezer bag. Put the ice cream mixture in the smaller bag and in the larger bag put the ice and rock salt. Put the smaller bag into the larger bag and shake, rattle and mush. It's fun on a hot summer day as it keeps you cool. It won't form hard ice cream, more like soft serve. Also, it melts quickly once it's out of the bigger bag. Be sure to dispose of your rock salt/water mixture appropriately. It will kill vegetation/grass.
