Do you really think that NO ONE will be saving parade spots? This is really runny.
What a joke! | 11:57 p.m. July 1, 2009
"Spots can be saved on University Avenue starting at 3 p.m. Friday and on Center Street, 100 South and 200 East starting at 5 a.m.
Any personal property used to reserve a spot should be attended at all times, or it may be removed by law enforcement officers."

Here is the joke........
"will be enforced by parade staff and Provo police."

THE PARADE RULES ARE NEVER ENFORCED!! I have seen, many times, families that yell at passers by "we have been saving this spot for 3 other families for two days!" as just 3 or 4 adults patrol a 1/4 block of blankets, chairs and gazebo's that block out the view for all the others.

Get there as a group or move aside for those who obeyed the law and came at the legal times AND respected the right of others to see and enjoy the parade. An umbrella is fine but leave the 15x15 foot gazebos and awnings home!!!
The rules are a joke and the cops wont defend those who do follow the rules.

I agree with "what a joke". At least if you have to bring your front porch to the parade, move to the back so the kids can see the parade and get face to face with the wonders in the parade. Stop the barakades of sofa's and monster ice chests! Respect the people around you. I keep my kids out of your way, so dont block my family from seeing the parade!

Leave your porch at home! A chair, an umbrella, some drinks and a snack are great, But why the giant awning and a wall of ice chests and threats to other parade watchers if they get withing 5 feet of your acre of realestate for 5 or 6 people!
I have also seen the kids get pushed around because they got to close to the fiesta within the parade.

The parade is for all, its just a few hours and is especially for THE KIDS! Let them up front and watch their excitement! Also, parents, we need to teach our kids to be aware of others and say "thank you" and "excuse me" when that nice family lets them up front when thier favorite float comes by....
