That's stupid - why would you fire your coach two nights AFTER the draft? Wouldn't you want to have a new coach in place beforehand so he can pick the kind of players that will fit in his system? Dumars is a prideful man and he has made some moves that will either make or break the franchise. in detroit they love him but I think they are wondering if lightning will strike twice.
Joe Dumars has some deserved slack due to the fact his team has won recently. But he needs to move quickly because outside of the lions the Detroit fan base doesn't tolerate losing well.

My guess is that Joe wanted Curry to take on Lambeer as an assistant for a year and Curry probably saw the righting on the wall. Don't be surprised to hear that Bill Lambeer is the next Pistons coach.
