Couldn't agree more with the assessment of the OKC GM on Sap. Paying
$9-10M a year for a roll player is ridiculous, unless you have a complete star
and are surrounding him, which the Jazz do not have.
Please do not burden this team with another overpriced contract for a guy that is better suited off the bench.

Boozer: PLEASE opt out!
The real interest by teams is going to be for Millsap, and the Jazz are going to have a tough time matching offers from Detroit and Oklahoma City for him if Boozer comes back.
Watch for a Boozer for Chris Bosh trade, though, if Boozer re-signs. Both would have contracts expiring in 2010, both would have a new team (which they both want), both would be motivated to put up great numbers, both would be better fits in their new locations - Boozer could hog the shots and the rebounds and care more about his personal numbers than wins - Bosh could play next to Millsap and provide energy and defense that Boozer is incapable of. And the best reason is that the Jazz would have a great chance to re-sign Bosh next year - Boozer is gone either way.

I am not advocating keeping Sloan. I think he has plenty of problems and is indirectly/directly responsible for a lot of the team weaknesses.
I am just pointing out that he has no incentive to retire and collect SS. Jazz management is going to have to make a decision to manage. If they want a better team they at least have to consider the limitations of Sloan, his philosophies and system.
They also have to seriously consider the probability that Sloan and his system are incapable of winning a ring. Further, his approach to the game is more expensive than approaches used by other successful coaches.

We can not overpay for Millsap! I've heard reports that Oklahoma City is
possibly offering 5yr 65mil contract. While that might not be true, the Jazz
can't match anything in that ballpark even if Booz is gone. I'm a big
Millsap supporter but he deserves maybe 9mil per year at best. Remember back
when Kirilinko was a hot commodity and we gave him the max deal not to lose him,
well this would be on par with that. We can get same type of player in Brandon
Bass for less money and probably a few others. Also, I'm not sure how much
Villanueva is commanding but if Booz and Millsap get the big money, we could go
after him. He's young, athletic, long and appears to be an aggressive, hard
working player. He could probably play 3, 4 or maybe even 5 against certain
teams. If Millsap is too expensive, I hope we let all 3 of our bigs go and
completely rework our front court with some athletes, then work on getting
2's and 3's that can shoot.

There is not way the Jazz can keep Boozer and not go into the luxury tax - even
if we don't resign Millsap. If the Jazz really planed on going into the
Luxury Tax - they would have sold their draft (similar to LA) for 3 million
dollars. The Jazz are not paying 2.5 million Salary plus tax for a back up
rookie point guard when they could have sold it for 3 to 4 million.
Boozer was not in the end of the Game against LA - Millsap was.
If Boozer opts out he is going to Pistons, if he does not opt out the Jazz will trade him to the Pistons for either Oberto or Kwame Brown and 2 million cash. Brown would then be bought out from the Jazz. Either way Boozer is gone.

I agree from Sloan's standpoint it makes sense to stay. I feel the team
should move on from the Sloan era, the only problem is... WHO else would make a
good coach? Personally, I'd like to see Avery Johnson coach this team. He
could inspire some toughness and provide a more relavant figure for the players
to learn from.

Boozer is insane if he thinks he should start at $14 or $15 Million. He's
missed 1/3 of his Utah games and is a very soft defender. Health is
unpredictable and lets too many points get by him. He simply thinks he's so
much better than he really is. Granted... he is a great player... but not
considered "elite" and his paycheck shouldn't be considered that
either.

Here's hoping that Boozer can be traded. I see no way that he's
opting out, though, because no team will sign him now for what he's making
next year, and in the summer of 2010 there will be a lot more teams with cap
space and better financial stability. He'll take his 12 mil and probably
get at least that next yoffseason, even though he doesn't deserve it. The
Jazz are a lot worse without Boozer, but then again they were without him for a
lot of time he was here!

We need Okur back more than either of our PFs. He wants the most reasonable
contract 10 mil per for a top 10 Center is not very much. Plus he loves being
here has been an ironman for the most part and is one of our top clutch players.
How many games have you been to that were won on a last second Okur shot?
I've been to at least 5 I can remember. Booz has had 1, and Millsap none.
Both Millsap and Booz want more than Memo and if you took the blinders off
you'd realize a guy that is 6'11" is more valuable than a guy
that is listed at 6'8 or 6'9. Please come back Memo! We need you more
than any other potential free agents that we had last year.

If Boozer opts to stay with the Jazz for the upcoming season he and his expiring
contract will be on the trading block all the way till the trade deadline. He
will be a huge distraction for a young Jazz team that can't seem to handle
distractions. On the bright side, his expiring contract should be a huge asset
for trading. If the Jazz could swing a deal before the season starts for a
top-notch player from a rebuilding team maybe we can even make a run at the
Lakers.

The Jazz can't afford any of those players that you mentioned without being
in even more trouble with the luxury tax. Plus AI is on the backside of his
career, T-Mac is injury prone and is going to miss AT LEAST the first half of
next season and Memo is a fairly similar player to Hedo, although probably less
athletic.

The Jazz have all season to work thru the problems (opportunties). If Boozer opts in he is quit valuable in trade. If Millsap gets to expensive he is replaceable. Boozer will be the starting PF for the first 1/2 year anyway.

In the long run the Jazz need a better PF than Boozer. One that will defend and get at least 16/10.

They just need to be patient and get the right players. This is the year to deal and get better.

Some of you guys kill me, we need to let Okur go so we can sign either Boozer or
Millsap. Please explain that to me? We lost to the Lakers mostly because of
length and health so we get rid of 1 of our tallest players who has missed the
least ammount of games. We can keep Okur as our PF and still get a C like Kaman
or Gorot or even dare i say it 'Sheed and suddenly the Lakers don't
seem so big anymore. Plus the dude likes being here and only want 10 mil per not
13 or more!!!!!! Not so tough a choice to me. What's easier to trade a big
man that has great offensive skills at 10 mil or undersized PFs at 13 mil?

It was a dumb move to do that at halftime, but that comment is on how he plays,
not what he does during halftime. Have you seen him play. If you ever want to
beat the Lakers, then we'll need athletes that can move their feet and
alter shots. Odom and Gasol will have a field day against any of our bigs,
unless maybe we play AK on Lamar. I'm not saying Villanueva is the only
answer but that type of player would be a start. We're 2 years away from
being able to seriously compete at best, so why not let all three
(booz,millsap,okur) go and pursue something to entice Deron to stay in the
future.

Personally I think Boozer won't opt out...either way, we need to keep okur and Milsap...Than we can ship carlos away on a trade, and we won't get the better end of it, but our wallets will be a little fatter. I say trade him to pistons for Prince or hamilton & a draft pick or some money. We also need to shell out AK for a guy like camby or chandler.

2nd - Bring Hot Rod back, he'll help the players "stop on a dime, and leave 7 cents change!" If the players hear catchy phrases like "With a gentle push and a mild arch, the old cow hide globe hits home!" They will believe in themselves and play beyond their potential!!
3rd - Build a memorial shrine to Stockton & Malone, (oops we already did) and for every home game just show hi-lights of the good ol' years, so we can ignore the actual game!!!
4th - Put a live mic on Sloan during the TV & Radio broadcast and in the arena; that way our children can learn "real world" phrases that will prepare them for "real life"!!!!

that if he can't play perfectly healthy, 100% - why bother??? He's
only hurting the team if he "plays through the PAIN" so, that being
said; if he is sore from lifting - don't play! If he wakes up in the
morning and his foot is asleep - don't freakin' play! If on the way
to the game someone cuts him off in traffic - well for heaven sakes, his mind

is that Okur wants a 5 year extension this season at 9 (current contract), with
a million dollar increase every year up to 14 million for 2014.

and Milsap. For that matter, I'd rather have Memo and Gortat than Memo,

if Millsap quit, Snoozie gone I hope the Jazz find away to get more help at
power forward even if cheaper variety.

I personally would rather see the Jazz sign an unrestricted free agent from an
obscure European team named Ilka von Wangenstein. He is a toe-tapper from way

Heck, that's the only fun we get. I still hear rumors of Stockton, Malone
or Eaton making a return to the game. If Hornacek orders a hot dog instead of a
hamburger at A&W it means he's been thinking about scratching his face
before making a free throw.
I have lived in in Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Denver Detroit and Cleveland. There ain't no fans nowhere who can speculate like a Jazz fan. I remember Alonzo Mourning had a 2 hour layover in the SLC airport. Next day it was in the papers he was considering coming to Utahr.
Speculate. It's what we do best.

RATS!! You mean we have to deal with another year of Boozer. What will he be
injured with next year? Cutting his toe nails too short, a paper cut that could
become infected. He is already severely overpaid for what he does (or
doesn't do). One more year of having him sit during the regular season only
to disappear during the playoffs.
