Mathis is Amazing | 10:08 a.m. June 29, 2009
I have been a Mathis fan since I first saw him with the mohawk in 02' I was thrilled that he was going to play for RSL during it's innagural season and although he didn't live up to the hype he still had a decent season (let's be honest how could anyone live up to any hype on that pathetic team). Mathis takes a lot of crap from fans who know nothing about the game but for those fans that do understand the game a bit more than just goals and continuos running up and down the pitch, Mathis is if not the best, one of the best midfields in the MLS (funny thing is he really isn't a midfield by choice). We love ya Cleetus keep show the haters how stupid they are.

I've always been a big fan. I was in Europe when he played here the 1st time so I don't really care what happened then. I was one of the few cheering for him last year when it was obvious to me he still had it, he just needed to be in better shape. This year he is obviously in better shape and it shows with how he's been playing. Clint is a very, very nice guy to boot. I'd hope he is on the all star team. Go Clint!

...that picture says it all.

Whiner, wanker, wannabee.

We all get lucky and score a goal here and there. Move on folks, nothing to see here.

A once clint hater | 11:31 a.m. June 29, 2009
when clint came back to the team last season I ripped on him continualy. Sure he was doing alright last season, but the guy couldnt find the net to save his life. Over the offseason I decided to give the guy one last chance, I mean the memories of the 02 WC were still fresh in my mind... and was I happy I did so. Clint has been the most consistent player on this team next to Borchers. Those two are the allstars on this team

If you are looking for someone to be on the all-star team just to represent the home team, Mathis is a good choice.

It's a tough thing for an RSL fan to admit, but there is really no one on the team that is playing like an all-star. It is an honest truth.

Mathis, I still have your 10 jersey from the inagural season, I will wear it for the all star game if your there. Lets beat San Jose on Friday boys.

I find it hilarious we probably wont have anyone representing RSL on the field during the All-Star match vs. Everton...

A couple weeks ago I remember an article written about how Jason Kreis thought it was good that no one from the national team was selecting a RSL player to call up because his guys "werent good enough" and that he didnt care what anyone thought outside of himself.

I can just imagine the reaction from Kreis about his guys not being selected as all-stars...lol...

We need someone on the team since we are hosting. At the beginning of the season I would've said Morales would be the guy, however not so much now. He's been a letdown. Cleetus should get the nod, or perhaps Rimando.
re:fits right in | 4:10 p.m. June 29, 2009
Beckerman was called up to the USA-MNT, Will Johnson called up to Canada, Alexandr called up to the Haitian team and Williams to the Jamaican team.

I would say the most underated player on the RSL roster and a player worthy of playing in the all-star match is Borchers. Mathis has had a much better year, but I would stillgo with Rimando or Borchers over Mathis.

I think there will be pressure to pick a RSL player and Mathis is going to be the one. Everyone loves a comeback story. I'll even wager Mathis does something special in the game since he will have the fans behind him. MLS would be crazy not to have at least one RSL player out there.

You know what you're going to get with Mathis when he steps on the field. Good hard nosed soccer, with a mouth. You have to wonder if Olave follows the example Mathis sets, but Olave has to use his studs or elbows because he can't speak the language. Mathis is one of the best passers in the league and has field vision you can't teach, but it comes at a price: Cards for Dissent occur WAAAAY too often.

Mathis is amazing. He's having an awesome season, and it would be a crime against nature if he didn't make the All-Star team. The voting is a sham, it's all Seattle players at the moment. The coach is the person who determines the actual team that will play Everton, and Dom Kinear should for sure put Mathis in the starting lineup.
Nussdorfer AC | 9:54 a.m. June 30, 2009
For whatever reason I had my reservations about Mathis, but he put them all to rest on Saturday. He was active, dangerous and fought very hard for his teammates. It was a joy to watch.

I hated that RSL picked up Mathis again, and I hoped he wouldn't get a second on the field... but this season has been great for him, and at times he seems like the true heart and leader of the team out there. I swear he already has the MSL goal of the year (New England at RSL... Awesome!!!). The players seem to rally around Mathis and its been a joy to watch Mathis play like Mathis of old. Hope he gets on the MLS All-Star team, I'm a fan again.

Mathis is playing some great futbol as of late. I like that he was used out wide on the right vs. Toronto as deep down he still has some of the magic that made him such a phenomenal player for the Nats!I would love to have him selected to the all-star team. That would be cool to see him out there with Donovan, McBride, and Keller if they get the nod. It would be a reunion of sorts for the USMNT! Keep it up Cleetus! Love watching your energy and passion for the game and the way you will battle for the other 10 guys on the pitch!
re: clint hater | 12:22 p.m. July 2, 2009
Just shows how little you get the game. Id take Mathis on my team any day. He finally has some players around him that will actually play and allows him to play. Keep it up Mathis... that ball he played to Morales for Beckermans goal was pure beauty. In the past he makes that same pass, but we had nobody to continue on with the play, or even make the run Morales did so it seems to be an errant ball when in fact it wasnt. Now does he make mistakes, yes but so does any player that is actually trying.... Go CLint!!

How could anyone call cline a whinner / wannabee this year, Do you know the game of soccer, I would think this person if he was on the other side of the field and the ref gave a red card, you would want to know what in the heck you did to get thrown out of the game. But so many times he will get the red card when others get a yellow. ( ref and upper management we as fans do notice it.Cline your are by far the best passer in the leaque, you pass ( most of the time right to the players foot. Your fans think it is a shame your were overlooked for the all star game Your fans sure can see your drive and how you make things happen.
Sorry you are passed by. Keep up the good work and it will pay off again.
